Mike Fischer started the topic Finished 600W install in the forum Solar Power 1 month ago
We just finished installing 600W of solar from AMSolar on our motorhome roof. Can’t wait to test it out this winter doing some boondocking in Arizona! It took us about a month of on-and-off work to finish the install. It was a bit more work than I had expected but everything is working well. Now I just need to ensure we cross paths with @eddie so…[Read more]
@mikefischer We are looking to install solar also. We are heading to Texas for cell batteries.
Mike Fischer replied to the topic Adhesive Installation of Solar Panels in the forum Solar Power 1 month, 3 weeks ago
We do have AMSolar panels, and are using their adhesive. We know quite a few other RVers who have the same setup and have had no problems with the panels coming unstuck. We just installed the first two panels (out of six) last week and have only driven once since then but they don’t seem to be moving at all. Whatever panels you go with, just make…[Read more]

That’s a sweet system and clean looking install. Congrats.
Love the celebration photo.
Thanks! It took us about a month to do the whole install, so we were pretty excited when it was finished!
Looks like a great set up! Can’t wait to hear how it performs. Can you provide any details on your system? What kind of panels did you use? Costs? Where did you have the most problems with the installation?
That is pretty epic Mike! We’re a little jelly.
I wrote up two blog posts about it. The first (http://liferebooted.net/solar-rover-part-1-why-go-solar/) explains why we’re doing it and what panels/controller we got…
The second (http://liferebooted.net/solar-rover-part-2-the-install/) is the step-by-step installation overview. Cost was $2,900 before tax credit, $2,000 after tax credit. I had to break this into two comments since it seems you can’t include two links in a comment!
Awesome posts Mike.
Looks like WordPress has a default setting for links in comments, guess to avoid comment spammers… I’ve adjusted to 5 now.
I’d like to share your blog post links in my upcoming monthly newsletter. I think my subscribers would love to read them. Great info!
Hopefully, we will see you in Quartzsite in Jan, would love to see…[Read more]
Ray, that would be fine! Just keep in mind we’re complete amateurs at this stuff, so I’m sure there’s a few things we could have done better. We’re trying to meet up with @eddie this winter to do an inverter upgrade, so I’m also going to ask him to look it over and let me know what I did wrong
We’ll be at Q from approximately Jan 13th to…[Read more]
You bet, I’ll label it as a DIY project. Many dedicated amateurs do a better job than so called pros. Especially when it is their own rig.
Seeing how different folks have done things on a variety of RVs is always helpful. If you’ve done something wrong I’m sure someone will let you know, which is a good thing. I learn tons from my commenters on…[Read more]
Nice job Mike. I like the way you have spaced your panels.
Thanks! I was trying to avoid shadows from the air conditioners, TV antenna, etc.
