I find that almost any area along I-10 is safe to stay overnight. Here is a few places I have stopped at in the past. Lordsburg, NM EX # 22 Just past the Kranberry’s Restaurant is a large lot, Deming, NM Wal-Mart EX # 82B, Not sure where you are going in TX, but I know some more if you would like.
