Very cool camp site Ray. The wife and I really love that area of the country, maybe it’s because it’s so differant from what we have here in the central prairies of Canada. We been on a couple of road trips down that why but not with an RV. We are planning one next fall/early winter with the little fiver through Navada, Arazona, New Mexico. We’re really looking forward to it. Ray if you have any other hidden gems you would like to share it would be much appreciated.

    thanks Rick

By the way do you have to be a US resident to camp no these public lands like you do on BLM land?

No, they let canucks on the land. ;) In fact with so many snowbirds, you’ll find a ton of Canadians. I’ve been using the Boondocking guides by frugal-rv-travel.com. They are great and written by a lady from Ontario.

I’ll keep posting cool spots we find. Many of the state and national parks are really nice too and with your smaller rig you can get into some nice spots. One of our favorite places is Joshua Tree National Park. 10 bucks a night.

Maybe this fall/winter our paths will cross somewhere down here.

I’ve driven through it, nothing very appealing landscape wise, just flat dessert area with not much views. There is a lot of quirky and interesting folks and some folk art type stuff to look at and has sort of a little community. Not my cup of tea really. I saw a fair amount of garbage and a few burn out trailers but on the other hand quite a few snowbirds in fancy rigs too. For me I would rather spend the 10 bucks a night fee and stay 20 miles north right on the Salton Sea in the State Park dry camping areas with a water view and pelicans flying by, also access to free dump stations and water.

We’ll be picking up our ’04 National Seabreeze hopefully next week and head to Washington the week after that.
