A channel commenter asked me to put out a video showing a typical day in the life when we are boondocking. So here is one random day.

It takes place in Quartzsite Arizona during mid-January. The place is packed with rigs for the annual meetups and big RV show.

You’ll see where we camped and footage of Quartzsite while we do some laundry.

Thanks Ray – interesting to see some of the day to day power management you have to do. Makes me rethink some things.

Ya, it’s always a little different depending on how much sun we get and how piggy we are with power.

Last night we watched a few hours of TV and a few hours on the computers but it was a warm night so not much furnace fan running time. We woke up with 86% of charge on our 4 battery bank down about 60 Amp Hours.

We needed to dump and fill today so drove round trip 40 miles and it is a sunny day, so got back to camp with %96 charge, had lunch and now at 2pm we have %100 charge so no generator today. :)

Always good reading ,we also like the heater buddy. Someday would like to get your type solar setup,we plan on a fifth wheel down the road,to keep down south. We travel in our 1191 Lance truck camper and haul our boat. Just hauled the 23ft C-Dory from PA to Panhandle Florida last month. Was first time hauling boat behind camper, got a rearview camera and we have walkie talkies for launching no rear window. Wife finishes medical coding in may, after 2 years at job she will be able to work on the road,we plan to travel a lot.

Sounds like you will have a good setup Larry. I better not let Anne read this or she’ll have us in a truck camper and towing her boat with our Cougar left down south. haha

You have the better setup Ray,wish we had more room like a fifth wheel, but were happy with truck camper. As long as you can get the boat where you want, you can relax in a roomy camper at days end. We spent around 30 nights on the boat this past season. When we do get back to the truck camper it feels like a roomy palace compared to living on the boat, but we often say would be nice to have more room and storage like a fifth wheel. How do you get your boat to different locations?

We use the same truck, it tows the boat like it’s not even there. Usually, Anne moors it in a marina and we camp in an RV park close to it.

This year like last year we are booked in an RV park in Campbell River BC, Anne will have moorage 10 minutes away in the harbor. Her boat is in storage, we will yank it out when we get back  and tow it to the marina and then head back and get the fifth wheel. We’ll stay there for 4 months so it’s worth all the towing.

There are lots of waters for her to explore up there.

Selling my boat :-( but don’t want to tow both a 37ft 5er AND a 21ft boat and not willing to pay storage when I don’t know if/when we’ll be back in the area.

I try to add my favorite campsites and boondocking locations to this map as well.

Make an effort to try and pin the exact location,
