You are too funny!!! I would get a cat in a minute, however, my boyfriend does not like them. So!!!
Seriously though, we have had no more of them since I caught the 2 in traps and still have the traps set. I did throw moth balls all around under us and by the wheels and steps. I also put dryer sheets all around and in everything and bo…[Read more]

I am thinking of getting a toaster oven, more for baking and saving on propane. Have any of you purchased one, and if so what brand? How do you like it also?

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a great New Year!! Enjoy where ever you have landed!
I like to cook and bake a lot, but do not like using my propane all up, as I would rather be warm! So I have been giving some thought to adding a roaster oven to my crockpot option. Has anyone used one in their RV for such purposes?

@altonandsharon Hi Sharon,
I was wondering how long a propane tank lasts you and how big is it? Don’t you use a 25 pound with you Buddy Heater? I am testing mine and thus far have 19 hours into it. I’m trying to figure out how much heat will cost to use.
-
Spirit, no I do not have a Buddy Heater. We just have 2-30 lb tanks. When we first got here, we were going through 2 tanks in 8 days. After changing how we did things, we now are filling 1 tank every 9-10 days, so they are lasting longer. We do have a fireplace in the living room and I use a little Lasko heater I paid $13. for at a pawn shop…[Read more]
-
I forgot you had a Lasko. Doesn’t that run on propane? I pay $15 for 25 gallons. I don’t have the extra money to buy 2 30 gallon tanks at this time. I’m going to try to put up the bubble wrap also. Our temps are a little cooler than yours and we average fog on most days, seldom sunny. Our rig is 32′. There isn’t any place for me to safely place a…[Read more]

No, it is electric, and so is the fireplace, so our electric bill has gone up and you do not have access to electric, right? I have a shelf in the bedroom across from the bed that it sets on….it is very small, but heats great! They are saying this weather is way above normal, and will go back to normal in another week, so will be once again be…[Read more]
-
Yep we don’t have electric, or anything for that matter. Our solar is very limited. A couple of guys never showed up to install it properly, long story. And now I don’t wish to deal with it in this weather.
Four slides, wow, big place Sharon. We don’t have any, sigh.
Have you tried to look into The Elks or The Moose Lodges for camping? I’m…[Read more]

I am with you on the countdown, Spirit. It is going to be 70 here this Friday, though and then the cold will come again. The last couple of days have been great and last night was only in the high 30’s so also good. We are far enough south that all of the campgrounds down here are open all year. We are almost to Arkansas. I loved the park we…[Read more]

I tried a few times to add our address, but it will not take it. I have trouble finding it on the GPS as well, though. After all, we are in the hills in Missouri! LOL ![]()
Well, we had a strange thing happen a couple of days ago. Our furnace started getting errors and sending out a strange noise and then it would stop, but said the timer was on. Our unit is controlled by a remote control, so we kept checking and the timer was not on. We could not figure out what was wrong, and of course thought the thing was on…[Read more]

thanks!!! I am always looking for new ways and things to cook. I do not usually cook in the microwave, so this will be something new to do! ![]()

Thanks all! Alton is on his way back, so I will let him know all of these things to do and he will be head mouse hunter after today!! He could have maybe found a coyote while he was out west…..at least a skull to bring back!! This is the second morning that there has not been evidence in the cupboards, but the traps are still set.…[Read more]
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! Enjoy those you are around today and safe travels to all!
I am thankful today to have found 2 DEAD mice in old fashioned traps finally!!! I hope for no more, but am a little more realistic, so will bait the traps again!! Oh, I did the moth balls and the dryer sheets too, but they still came, or maybe they never left!

I got another one also and the traps are reset. I also hate giving up my cubbie space as I no longer use the space under the kitchen sink and slowly ripping stuff out of the bath sink also and keeping things on the kitchen table at the moment, grrrr
-
yeah, I know, one of the reasons we bought this was because of the extra cabinets and the ability to use the kitchen table for eating and not a computer desk and now not using either as intended! Alton told me to put the stuff back in the cupboards….it is my pots and pans and mixer I use every day. I just hate the thought of mice running on…[Read more]

I SO understand Sharon. I can’t stand the thought of those critters running on my stuff, on anything, uck. But then again isn’t this how the Plaque began, yuck, uck, ucky yuck, gross! What is even worse is my lower cubbies are carpeted and will have to shampoo but not till Spring, even a larger screaming YUCK! I already have stuff on both tables,…[Read more]

Thank you, I think I will order some of that. I was happy to have no new mice in my traps today, though!! I know I am not that lucky to have gotten rid of them for good though. It looks like you can buy it at Ace Hardware as well, so next time I go to town I will look there to see if they have it before I order it online. Have a great day whe…[Read more]
@altonandsharon The cement blankets seem to be helping. I do have up to a 20 degree difference. I’m thinking of placing a tarp over the roof due to the roaring winds we have. Are you still going to stay in Missouri for the winter? why? I’m wondering if I made the decision to stay in Pennsylvania.
-
Thanks for the update, Spirit! Where did you get the blanket and if I may ask, how much was it? We have a fireplace that seems to be keeping the living room warm if we close he doors to the kitchen area in the evening. We also have a small heater we are using in the bedroom area when we sleep and we are leaving the furnace down to about 66,…[Read more]

Hello Sharon,
I bought the blankets on Amazon and pd $68 each. I just checked and Amazon is sold out:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RPMJ7E6?redirect=true&ref_=cfb_at_prodpg
And I have seen them as high as $350 each so happy hunting with a price lower than $150. I have decided not to put in a fireplace as that would mean removing the 2…[Read more]

I will also be alone for a lot of the time, as when Alton leaves it is for 10-14 days at a time. I can go, but this time needed to get this place in order, since we have only had it a short time, there is a lot to clean. The people who had it prior did not do so and it is a mess. Worst problem will be to get the cat pee & poop cleaned up.…[Read more]

I am in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania Sharon. I am parked along the Susquehanna River with a mountain beside me. Due to the valley and river can get a little colder but it can also be warmer than other places. It all depends on the day. Last night it was 19 outside and 24 in the rig. We didn’t need the heat as Kaiya (my pup) keeps us plenty…[Read more]

Wow, Spirit you are really out in the wilderness. It sounds beautiful though! I am happy to announce this morning there are 2 dead mice in the old fashioned traps! I will put them out back as a warning for those who are also thinking of entering! I will put the traps back baited again just in case. I hate giving up the cupboard space though!…[Read more]

Clean with apple cider vinegar will help with the cat smell.

Once again, Paul, thank you. I will do the entire carpet in the spring, as it is not really easy to dry in this weather. I did do under the love seat and it took about 4 days to dry. When it gets warm it will dry much quicker, and it is not smelling too bad now that it is cold outside.

It isn’t true wilderness Sharon as the campground is in a small industrial park but a truss company is the only company that operates 24/7 except Sat night and into Mon morn so thus we are completely alone for a mile. We spent the night at a hunting camp for Thanksgiving and going back to the rig today until Sun morn and then back to hunting camp…[Read more]

I hope to soon have mouse skulls to set around!!! I am about willing to try anything at this point! Something was running back and forth on the roof at 2am trying to get in the vent in my bedroom. About 4:30 I got up and went out and slept on the loveseat! I saw the owners of the park and they volunteer their shot gun, but thinking not a goo…[Read more]

We love our Breville Mini Smart Oven. It’s the most expensive toaster oven we’ve owned ($150 MSRP, we paid $120) but works great. It comes in three sizes (and prices). We bought the smallest one (“mini”) but if you plan to do a lot of baking it might be a bit too small. More info on Amazon:…[Read more]
Thanks, I will check it out. I really didn’t want to go over $100. and have looked at some of the Brevilles and they were pricey, like you said. I have had my eye on a Hamilton but it is only on sale for today I think is the end of the sale…..so it was at the top of my price range as well. I was just in hopes someone had a great one for under…[Read more]
