That is interesting Paul. I went coyot hunting the other day without hearing or seeing a peep and walked for miles just when dawn tried to break. I will keep trying and I know men who are hunting them so maybe I’ll get a skull and/or urine yet

@altonandsharon The cement blankets seem to be helping. I do have up to a 20 degree difference. I’m thinking of placing a tarp over the roof due to the roaring winds we have. Are you still going to stay in Missouri for the winter? why? I’m wondering if I made the decision to stay in Pennsylvania.

I have a 1983 Sharp Convection / Microwave Oven that won’t properly heat and it is taking 3x longer to cook anything in either fashion. The fan is running. I can’t get at the model number without tearing the unit out. I am running the generator when I use it.
Thanks Peeps

3 have been captured in the old fashion wooden spring trap with peanut butter Sharon. Very highly effective :) I haven’t been to the store yet to get the “rid-away” stuff to place in the compartments. I will be tossing in dryer sheets and see how well that goes. I have been hunting many hours and haven’t seen a coyot or fox yet to shoot. I w…[Read more]

Hello Marsha and Dewey,
I bought the spring traps this morn and set them with peanut butter bait and now at hunting camp and hoping this will be the end of this mouse and will buy other products to keep them away. The mouse walked all over the sticky pads without getting stuck :( Hope you both have a great week ![]()

Thank you Backpacker for your input. Too bad I didn’t read this sooner as a friend shot a coyote 2 days ago and I could have gotten the urine from it. Maybe I’ll be able to shoot a coyot tomorrow while out hunting. The only thing I have draping off the rig is the skirt (cement blankets). For now I have placed old fashion wood/metal spring traps.

I am now going through a mouse issue myself :( On the 2nd day I put out sticky pads, not at all effective. 3rd day I placed peanut butter in the center of them since the mice loved my trail mix of peanuts and chocolate. A mouse ate from the edge of the pad and got tuckered before reaching the peanut butter. Day 4 I placed a piece of Snickers in…[Read more]

A mouse got into our rig the other day. It was in the bathtub but got out quickly enough and was chased outside. Last night a mouse was inside my side/rear bedroom wall and gravitated to the rear bathroom ceiling and was very busy there all night long. Now my tub won’t drain. Do you think the mouse did something? Any ideas how to keep them away?…[Read more]
@eddie Hello Eddie and Aileen. I hope your both doing well. I PM’d you a while back but that is when gremlins were eating up the mail so I will guess you didn’t get it. I was wondering if you would make me 2 panel tilters for me and what the cost would be and if you accept PayPal. We have been getting flurries for 3 days now, 35 nights, in…[Read more]

Hi Spirit, I think the internet monster feeds on PM and E-mails. Sorry we don’t have PayPal, we are a small (Small) “Mom & Pop” business. I’m not sure by the time I make tilt brackets and ship them to you it would be at the price you are looking for. The materials can be found at Home Depot or similar hardware store, and cut with chop saw,…[Read more]

I am thinking abt moving over aft deer hunting season Eddie. NY got 12″ snow yesterday, yikes. I think this winter is going to be worse than last. We are loving the Mr. Buddy Heater as of 2-3 nights ago
Supply list could help. Say hello to Aileen and thanks!

Spirit, will you let me know about the cement blankets? We will be in Missouri and I know we will get cold there, so need to figure out how to do it quickly!! Thanks!
-
The cheapest place to buy them is on Amazon Alton and Sharon and you better buy them now as the price has already gone up $15 since July. They are under $70 each, abt 25’x6′. The Amazon site shows them black with orange on the other side but they are only orange when received. Other sites are $250 – $350 each! Why Missouri for the winter?
-
Hello Alton and Sharon, thus far I can tell you that the average outside temp is 43 and it is average 10-15 warmer in the rig and that includes windy days so thus far I am happy. Hope this info helps you.

Sure does sound like a plugged vent.
-
Spirit, I agree. I would also recommend keeping that compartment and connections meticulously clean and put a cap on the hose connector. Even if you don’t use it for drinking water, you still want to wash with the cleanest water possible.
-
Thanks George, Ray and Eddie, I’ll check it out. All the water is going out the “tap” inlet side with some leaking into my tank. At least none is sloshing back, yuck. I’ll pull out the bleach and wash the area well and look for a cap for the tap water. It would be much easier to fill with the water shut off valve.
-
Isn’t there a spring like mechanism in there? How about putting some vinegar in a hose and let it set in there a fair time and see if it will dissolve some calcium and free up.
-
Hi Paul, my vent was clogged. I found it when I took out my water pipe that had a pin hole in it. It clogged again last wk, grrr. At least this time I quickly knew what to look for
Thanks for your help

How long of a #6 AWG wire do you have on the 12 volt side of the 700 watt inverter from the batteries? If its any more than 3′ its way to small and may cause the inverter to go in current overload because of the lack of 12 volt amperage caused by to small of a wire. Kinda like you can’t get a large volume of water out of a skinny water hose even…[Read more]

It is within the 3′ range Eddie. Maybe I can bump into you in the spring. Will you be in North Carolina again? I have someone looking around that knows about solar panels around here but so far no luck. The only thing they suggest is a camper repair garage and that is about $95 an hr, ouch

Hi Spirit, we will most Likely be staying west of the Mississippi river unless we go to visit my family. If your are west maybe we could meet up.
Happy Trails!!! -
A pro is suppose to come look at my set-up bef winter Eddie. I envy you and Aileen. Have a blast. I know I will have more questions for ya soon.

Thanks for the update, Spirit! Where did you get the blanket and if I may ask, how much was it? We have a fireplace that seems to be keeping the living room warm if we close he doors to the kitchen area in the evening. We also have a small heater we are using in the bedroom area when we sleep and we are leaving the furnace down to about 66,…[Read more]
Hello Sharon,
I bought the blankets on Amazon and pd $68 each. I just checked and Amazon is sold out:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RPMJ7E6?redirect=true&ref_=cfb_at_prodpg
And I have seen them as high as $350 each so happy hunting with a price lower than $150. I have decided not to put in a fireplace as that would mean removing the 2…[Read more]
I will also be alone for a lot of the time, as when Alton leaves it is for 10-14 days at a time. I can go, but this time needed to get this place in order, since we have only had it a short time, there is a lot to clean. The people who had it prior did not do so and it is a mess. Worst problem will be to get the cat pee & poop cleaned up.…[Read more]
I am in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania Sharon. I am parked along the Susquehanna River with a mountain beside me. Due to the valley and river can get a little colder but it can also be warmer than other places. It all depends on the day. Last night it was 19 outside and 24 in the rig. We didn’t need the heat as Kaiya (my pup) keeps us plenty…[Read more]
Wow, Spirit you are really out in the wilderness. It sounds beautiful though! I am happy to announce this morning there are 2 dead mice in the old fashioned traps! I will put them out back as a warning for those who are also thinking of entering! I will put the traps back baited again just in case. I hate giving up the cupboard space though!…[Read more]
Clean with apple cider vinegar will help with the cat smell.
Once again, Paul, thank you. I will do the entire carpet in the spring, as it is not really easy to dry in this weather. I did do under the love seat and it took about 4 days to dry. When it gets warm it will dry much quicker, and it is not smelling too bad now that it is cold outside.
It isn’t true wilderness Sharon as the campground is in a small industrial park but a truss company is the only company that operates 24/7 except Sat night and into Mon morn so thus we are completely alone for a mile. We spent the night at a hunting camp for Thanksgiving and going back to the rig today until Sun morn and then back to hunting camp…[Read more]
