If you are able, I would recommend Door County. Numerous campgrounds to choose from, both State Park and private. We love Peninsula State Park and will be staying at Rustic Timbers private park this time around in a couple weeks. Peninsula has an outdoor theatre to see performances at and there is an outdoor, old-fashioned drive-in right acr…[Read more]

We stayed at Custer State Park 4 years ago on our adventure out west. We loved it and thought it was quiet. You are right in the thick of nature. You have a river behind the campground and we woke to all sorts of deer in the morning right in the campground area. You are close to the wildlife loop in the park and we had a herd of buffalo sta…[Read more]

Some great ideas and love to hear it from someone who is “further down the full term road”! We are most likely 3 years away from Full Time status and will be in the working class. Hopefully by that time internet connections/access will have come a long way!
Keep the great full time thoughts coming.
Thanks!

Your right Ray…we take out all food, spices, etc. I even take out any towels, paper products, etc. so there is nothing to build a nest with. It then helps in spring when we do a once over for cleaning…shelves are bare and easy to clean thoroughly before the start of the next great camping season!

We have been lucky the last couple years when we have stored ours. We put Bounce dryer sheets all over the inside, including down under the sink, etc. We also tape up the vent areas outside where they could get in and then sprinkle moth balls around the areas that touch the ground, such as hitch and tires. Our camper is stored in a quansat hu…[Read more]

Thanks Ray! Appreciate the manual! I think this a DIY project for the fall.

We have a 2011 Outback with a 20ft Dometic 9100 power awning. Unfortunately this last weekend a quick storm came up with high winds while we were away and the awning tore about 2-3 feet away from the outstretched roller. Not sure it is repairable since it is soo close to the roller, but would love to hear your advice there.
The other option w…[Read more]

Yummm…the possibilities are endless! We have a simple dip we usually make with Hormel Chili no beans and cream cheese. Bet it would taste good over the fire!

Hi Roger, a breakfast back is essentially a breakfast casserole, but with camping it can be made in the crock pot rather than the oven. A combination of all your usual breakfast ingredients…eggs, bacon or sausage, cheese and hashbrowns. Variations include veggies to make more of an omelette and others include biscuits. It cooks overnight on…[Read more]

Bruce we do have a Keurig , just the small one but love the flexibility it allows. Also good for hot chocolate on those cool nights by the fire. Another appliance we take with us is a wafflemaker. Did you know you can make nice crispy hashbrowns in it? Yumm!!! Also use a crockpot which is great for putting in oatmeal or a breakfast bake tge…[Read more]

We love our Oxygenix showerhead and certainly gives more perceived “water pressure”. Only thing I don’t like is the cold little blast you still get after taking it off of “pause” when shampooing.
I would really like to know how you like your wireless router and your new LED lights. We contemplated starting to switch ours out as well but w…[Read more]

We love walking tacos, they are usually a request just about every camping trip.
Chef hubby also created a souped up “taco meat” to use for walking tacos, taco salad, etc. that we prepare for these camping trips.
Spread 1 can refried beans in a 9×9 foil pan that you have sprayed with cooking oil, then top with a can of Hormel Chili No Beans,…[Read more]

HI Norma, I bought some Bio-Kleen last season and used on the recommendation of a friend. I like it. It does take the black streaks off. I also used it on the underside of my awning. I also bought the sudsy cleaner as well.
Julie Gramoll replied to the topic Canned Biscuit Campfire Donuts in the forum The RV Kitchen 1 year, 6 months ago
We love making these when camping! Wine bottle cap, never thought of that…we use the large end of a melon baller to get the donut holes. Putting htese on the list for our Memorial Day camping outing. Pineland Campground in Arkdale, WI. Lots of four wheeling fun!

What a great grab and go breakfast with some fruit when we are headed out for a fun day of geocaching and hiking into areas less traveled!
Julie Gramoll replied to the topic Geocaching in the forum Bring your Chair and Chat 1 year, 6 months ago
We have a Garmin Vista HCx etrex and like it. Fits nicely in your hand and has a rugged rubber outer for when you drop it! oh and it is really good on finding geocaches. But just know, geocaching in very dense woods can bounce the sat signal around a bit. ![]()
Julie Gramoll replied to the topic Geocaching in the forum Bring your Chair and Chat 1 year, 6 months ago
Hi Norma- We love to geocache when we go camping! THink if it as a high tech treasure hunt! http://www.geocaching.com/ There is also an app for it!
This is the official site and it costs nothing to join. We bought a handheld GPS to use, it seems to work better than our phone GPS and has a longer batttery life. I carry a little pouch that…[Read more]

Love the magnet/screw idea!! We have an adhoc privacy curtain like this and wondered how we get them to stay shut.

Does this take care of your black streaks too or do you use something else for those?
