We have a 2011 Outback with a 20ft Dometic 9100 power awning.  Unfortunately this last weekend a quick storm came up with high winds while we were away and the awning tore about 2-3 feet away from the outstretched roller.  Not sure it is repairable since it is soo close to the roller, but would love to hear your advice there.

The other option would be to replace it with a new awning.  I am wondering if anyone has done this as a DIY AND does it matter that it is a power awning?  Could it still be done as a DIY?  Looking at some youtube videos, they are all replacement with manual pull-down awnings.

I have heard that it is pretty pricey to have it repaired…ugghhh.  Lesson learned.

I have the same model on my trailer, they don’t look to hard to change, looks like it is just bolted in place. Biggest hassle would be removing all the old calking sealant. The wiring is just two wires.

When we stay down Palm Springs at a pretty big park, over 500 sites, everyday I see a mobile awning repair truck out doing repairs, also seen them in Quartzsite, it is very common to have a damaged awing. :) Especially in the desert where you get quick wind gusts.

Found an install manual for Dometic Power Awning, will give you some info of what is involved to replace the whole thing. Looks like you have to be wary of the spinning tube, it is under spring tension.

Thanks Ray!  Appreciate the manual!  I think this a DIY project for the fall.
