I did a screen-cast of how to join the RVHH member map and add and edit your location pin. The map uses Google Maps interface so a Google account is needed to be able to add and update your pin. Sort of a pain but the maps are really nice and have some cool features, also it runs on Google servers and is free.

If you don’t want to get a Google account you could always message me with a desired location and I could add you to the map myself.

The map can be viewed by going to this url –https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zqnjimvT3EBo.kUe1I5XPPG14

To edit your pin you need to be signed in to your Google account.

I’ll figure out how to embed it in the RVHH website if it works out well.

The map will be able to be found by the public so you likely don’t want to put in your exact coordinates. That will be handy though if we plan a meetup somewhere we can place a special pin with the exact place. :)

Pretty easy when you follow the video instructions.  Thanks Ray!  Added a pin for our winter location.  Saved the RVHH map to my favorites bar so it is easy to call back up.

Your welcome Terry. I’ve also placed a link to the map in the RVHH Meetup Group main page.

I’ve played around with the layers function and added a Boondocking location layer to share free dry camping spots. I made them green squares.
One neat thing you can do is download a KML file of the map locations and then display them in the Google Earth program taking advantage of all it’s bells and whistles. Pretty cool and useful for scouting out spots.

Here is a video demo of what I mean.

Not too hard Ray. I posted some free BLM camping areas in NE California. Of course you can camp anywhere on BLM for the most part but these are designated self-contained sites. The BLM Eagle Lake office reference is: http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/eaglelake/camping.html
