  • Just an update:  we had reason to have ChemDry clean our home carpets, so at the same time we asked them to clean the carpets AND CEILING in our rig.  Their spot treatment got out almost ALL of the water stains in the “carpeted” ceiling!!!  I am thrilled!!!  I highly recommend ChemDry for cleaning a rig!!!

  • We have an older Hitchhiker with carpet on the ceiling.  The previous owners had leaks around the ceiling vents and there are stains in the carpet on the ceiling.  I’ve tried bleach, carpet cleaner of different types, hydrogen peroxide, and NOTHING works.  Does anyone have a magic solution?

We’re just about to leave for a 10-12 week trip around the midwest. The itinerary is somewhat flexible.  We’re planning to spend a couple of weeks exploring northern Wisconsin in early August.  Any recommendations for must-see locations, campgrounds that you loved?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Hi everyone. This seems like a diverse and interesting group and we’re pleased to be members. Bob and I are both somewhat seasoned RVers, but have had the dream of taking a LONG trip in our rig which we plan to realize this summer. We’ll be traveling in a large loop throughout the midwest and northern states (from Texas to Tennesee, Ohio,…[Read more]

Sounds like the trip of a life time. Hope you have a great time. I see you have made friends with RV Wanderlust – they are likely to be a good source of information. Eddie and Aileen have a lot of travel experience as well. Lots of people on this site so expect lots of replies.
      Cheers

Thanks for the reassurance, we really don’t have a major checklist, been living in this home for so long, we now are just doing more purging, and deciding what we do not need, this next time. Too much stuff. Kind of hard
with a kid that is the big list, what to take of hers. As long as its horse stuff that is good enough. Eddie just decides…[Read more]

We’re interested in knowing more about wi-fi signal boosters. Do any of you use one? Recommendations? Pros/Cons? Best brand? Inside or outside antennae?

    • Ray replied 6 months, 3 weeks ago

If you get one you’ll likely have the best luck with an external antenna mounted up high on the rig. The trick is to try and get a line of site with the WiFi broadcast antenna. By placing your receiving antenna up high you get above all the other RV’s that may be blocking the WiFi signal.

Sadly though in my experience in a large percentage of RV…[Read more]

Well that answers THAT! Thanks for the valuable advice. We’ve had problems at several parks with S-L-O-W internet, or not being able to get a connection at ALL (probably too much traffic on their system). I thought a booster would be the answer but probably not, now that you’ve explained it. Thanks!!

        • Ray replied 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Ya, the problem these days is all the streaming movie services like Netflix, or folks devices auto set to back up huge amounts of things into cloud storage. etc, most parks WiFi don’t have near the capacity to handle stuff like that. Some parks have sophisticated systems that deal with these problems but most don’t.

With the advent of wide spread…[Read more]

So would you recommend using my iphone as a hot spot?

            • Ray replied 6 months, 3 weeks ago

Sure, you just have to remember when using cell data to make sure things aren’t updating and downloading, syncing without you knowing it, can get expensive quick. My wife had downloaded a TV show series on her Imac computer but forgot to sync to the Ipad. Well when the Ipad got on our cell hotspot it proceeded to download the whole season of shows…[Read more]

I had trouble with the wifi at the Park I was in down in Florida and the Park Tech came to my spot and did some test and on my computer he said that I only had a 2.4 Ghz connection and suggested I go to the local Walmart and buy a dual band Router which I did and the 5 GHZ on the router worked like gangbusters (Great) HOWEVER, if the Park does not…[Read more]
