RV Newbies 1 month, 2 weeks ago · updated 1 month, 2 weeks agoHello. I am new to the site and have a few questions. Please refer me elsewhere if these questions have already been answered. Do you think a 4 season rig is critical for snow birding in the southwest? I am thinking of buying a 29′ keystone cougar 2005 with polar package. Is this adequate?

Hello! My wife and I are looking to find a good diesel truck for $15-20k to tow a 30′-34′ 5th wheel RV in order to start our RV lifestyle. If you come across one that you think is a solid truck for a reasonable price send it my way. I have cash and will pay a fair price. Someone trading up for a newer truck or exiting the RV lifestyle would be a…[Read more]

Dustin, Jen & Camrie replied to the topic Who Has Part-Time Businesses While RVing? in the forum Ask for Help 1 month, 2 weeks ago
My wife and I are planning to go on the road part-time. I am a draftsman and designer using AutoCAD software to design homes and mines. Most of my work I do from home already so I think it will work on the road as long as I have cell service regularly and wifi fairly often.
Almost any computer and software based business should be an option on the road.

Taking my computer (job) and hitting the road! We are currently shopping for a 5th wheel and diesel truck so we can begin work-traveling. We are both 30 and have a 2 year old girl named Camrie. Now is as good of a time as any, right!?! Any advice is welcomed.

We own a 2014 280 RLS Cougar. I believe its a sales ploy with the sticker saying its polar. I wouldn’t trust it in 10 degree weather. From our experience the Cougar has its issues like a lot of RV’s. We have had a axles move 2 1/2 inches backwards, as Ray has explained in his LoveYourRV videos there are danger areas on the roof for leaking. We…[Read more]
Thanks for the info. We went and saw the used Cougar we were eyeing and it was in very good shape and a good price. The former owner snowbirded in arizona three years in it which I think is a good sign for it. He is 80 now and giving up on traveling. We also saw a different trailer that had slides on opposing sides and it was miserable when…[Read more]
We’ve snowbirded down south for 4 years now with no issues in our 2011 Cougar. The vast majority of snowbirds down there are not in 4 season rigs.
But we do stay at the lower elevations when it’s the coldest. Usually in Dec and Jan.
Keep in mind though the southwest has a lot of elevation changes. Much of it is up over 4000 feet. That’s why the…[Read more]
Ray! Its a pleasure to hear from you! Thanks for this info and for your youtube channel. You helped inspire us to give this a try. We still have a ways to go before hitting the road but we really appreciate the time and effort you and others put into the videos and this site. I will be studying those solar videos in detail real soon and hpoing to…[Read more]
We’ve had very little problems finding camp spots, but that is mostly based on experience out west, I can’t speak too much for the south east. The one winter we did spend in FLA it seemed much more crowded though and far far less boondocking opportunities if at all.
