Making a Living on the Road 2 months, 2 weeks ago · updated 3 days, 8 hours ago@Rob & Karen or CaptnRob. I am a software developer but we are still ‘home bound’ for the next several months. When we get out there on the road I will be looking for remote opportunities but I’ve been thinking that it would be nice to develop my own “Product” or learn another programming language that could remove me from the dependency of…[Read more]

Thanks a lot for having weighed in on the question I had about printers, Bill. In the end I went with a small monochromatic laser printer. I had inkjet printers for years but have gotten away from them for reasons that are pretty particular to me. I have been working as a software developer for many years now and I basically needed a printer to…[Read more]

I just got off the phone with Samsung Support and they will be emailing me a shipping label so that I can return it to them. Even…[Read more]

@laurentravel I lived in Canada for about 9 or 10 years in the 70’s and I lived some of that time in Kamloops. I had lived in both Peachland and Kelowna as well. More than 10 years ago I took my two youngest to visit and we went to Kamloops. I just posted a photo in the Gallery of an old white bus that had been converted into a motorhome that we…[Read more]

@martin I joined RVHappyHour about three months ago and have both learned a lot here as well as enjoyed the conversations and opinions of others. Lots of nice people here. We aren’t full-timers yet but plan to be so soon.
I lived in Calgary between 1974 & 1976 but have been in South Carolina for the last 13 years. Once we get our home and our…[Read more]

Thanks Jesse. If we didn’t cross paths in Calgary we probably kicked up the same dust. If you haven’t been back since 1976, you wouldn’t recognize the city. The population is over a million 2.

I lived much longer in Edmonton and I’m guessing that I probably wouldn’t recognize Edmonton either not having returned there in 35 years. . . . . oh my God . . . . just writing that just made the rest of my hair turn gray

I loved living in Canada and Edmonton is one of those places that is on our list of places to visit once we “escape”.

Yes, the Edmonton area is beautiful. It also has become a big city. Go Flames Go.

Eddies mom and dad just moved from down in SC down in Summerville up to Greenville /Grimesland in NC so he knows the area, Went to the Yorktown with Laura for school and had a good time. Great learning for me also. Eddies dad was our tour guide, cause he was on a destroyer in the Navy. But now they need to use there. Will cross paths someday for…[Read more]

@LolaandRush rattling around in an RV is what I really wanted to get at in my question. It seems to me that there are a lot more moving parts, fragile moving parts, in an inkjet as compared to a laser. A laser draws a lot more power than does an inkjet though so I’m not too sure I’d want to use it very much if using an inverter.
Do you all only…[Read more]

You are a great help Ray. I’ve been meaning to ask you about this very topic and, thankfully, I found that you had already answered the question so I don’t have to bother asking! I already have the two Corel programs but just haven’t used them very much lately. I’ve heard about the quickness of IrfraView although I have never used it. I guess I’ll…[Read more]

@bobandnancy Wow! So cool. It’s so much fun to be “excited” and especially after what must have been a trying period of your lives. I don’t know what you mean by “treatment” but if it has kept you from doing what you love, it’s got to be great to get that behind you.

Do any of you have printers and if so what kind? By kind I mean ink-jet or laser or ???? Anything to steer clear of? In our stick house I’ve used a laser for years because I got so tired of the cost and fiddly nature of ink jets but maybe the technology has gotten better since my last experiences with them. Black and white is all I need.

I’ve recently been researching the subject of composting toilets and have found the Wynns Youtube videos very enlightening. Here’s a couple of links to get you started:

Sorry, I just saw this now. Never got any notification….
I have been working on my own product for a few years now but after coding all day at the “day job” I find that I don’t have much energy for it in my off hours. Prefer to spend my spare time with my family. Maybe eventually I’ll finish my project and monetize it…

It’s been weeks since I’ve been on this site yet I see you answered my post just 29 minutes ago? Wow! What a coincidence.
I know exactly how you feel. I also have a “product” waiting for me to finish but have little energy to tackle it again. I’m pretty sure it has something to do with approaching that point in my life where I just want to stop…[Read more]
