Do any of you have printers and if so what kind? By kind I mean ink-jet or laser or ???? Anything to steer clear of? In our stick house I’ve used a laser for years because I got so tired of the cost and fiddly nature of ink jets but maybe the technology has gotten better since my last experiences with them. Black and white is all I need.

We brought our HP Envy 4500 ink jet with us and its decided to go crazy. I s___  can it yesterday account I’d tried everything to get it going. HP website and I did all it recommended with no success. I think the 14000 miles its had in the RV caused a malfunction. We too are looking for a printer now.

Printers have dropped a lot in price over the last 10 years. My family and I have had good luck with HP products.. Specificlly ink jets or photo jets. Bon my kids have ink jets at college and we have a photo jet 6510. They have lots of variations for whatever your price point is.

No matter what the printer they get ya with the cost of ink. I have not done it, but I find it interesting that hp this year has started offering ink in a form of a subscription service. If you print a lot it midget be worth looking into.

@LolaandRush rattling around in an RV is what I really wanted to get at in my question. It seems to me that there are a lot more moving parts, fragile moving parts, in an inkjet as compared to a laser. A laser draws a lot more power than does an inkjet though so I’m not too sure I’d want to use it very much if using an inverter.

Do you all only use it when you are with full-hookups or with the generator on or do you use it from your solar powered inverter Rush?

I hate the idea of using 12 volt to energize a power brick that steps the voltage down to 5 or 12 volts or whatever the printer uses. For this reason I ordered my newest laptop with a “traveling” 12 volt charger. It seems so inefficient to use those power bricks in an RV.

We have a printer also and it works well it is a ink jet, have it for school for the kids and if we need to print something that is needed. Does not take to much solar power for us. Aileen and the gang

I never used it why’ll we were boondocking like Eddie and Aileen have to with a daughter in school. We have solar so it’s not a big worry using printer in the am account solar recharges battery banks. Sorry that’s all I have for you. Solar is the trick, we do everything except run A/C, Microwave and Electric Heater.
