For this of you who travel with dogs, my husband and I are debating the need for the dog to have a harness and be attached to the MH, either in a booster or just to the seatbelt. I say it is necessary and safer for everyone. He thinks it is an expensive gimmick. What say you all?

How do you guys search for RV parks? Just googling doesn’t seem to pick up all of them. We are looking at joining Harvest Hosts (winery & farm boondocking), but would like to have a few others that we could rely on. Everything from boon docking to full hook ups.

http://www.allstays.com/Campgrounds/ Very comprehensive online free listings and a good for pay app, worth the price. I also like http://www.uscampgrounds.info/ and http://freecampsites.net/usa/ to research boondocking locations.

I also in the process of putting together another list. In my monthly newsletter I have a section called Ray’s pick – Helpful website of the month. I’m in the process of editing them all into a blog post, should be out soon. Cheers

Hi Ray & Jen, the web sites Ray put up work really good. ( I like the Freecampsites.net)
We also go low tech and carry a copy of Good Sams 2014 North American RV Travel Guide & Campground Directory. It lists over 13,500 campgrounds and rv parks, and has a very good rating system. Also gives you points of interest, rules of the road ( this is…[Read more]

Hello everyone, I guess we ought to introduce ourselves. We are brand new to the RVing world and are taking delivery of our new Motorhome, a 2016 Navion 24J, this week!
I (Jen) grew up doing the square dancing circuit with my grandparents every summer in a 40′ airstream. My husband (Ray) grew up doing pop up camping with his folks in north…[Read more]

Interesting topic. Our beagle isn’t tethered and has the back seat area of the truck to roam in. I know she will become a 20 lb projectile in certain accident situations, but it’s a risk I take for the convenience and comfort of the dog.
If we had a motorhome I might look at having her in her kennel. Tried it in the fifth wheel once but it was…[Read more]
Im like Ray our black lab has the back seat of my extended cab. She does fine for us its more confort for the dog .
I wonder if I’m more concerned because it is a Motorhome and not a car? I know in the car she seems to want to stand the whole time on shorter trips. On long trips we’ve always had her in her kennel as we had to bring it anyway (for the hotel rooms). In there she lays down. In Germany (where we got her) it’s required by law to have your dogs…[Read more]
We just purchased a back seat mesh barrier from Amazon http://amzn.to/1efrYTD that seems to be working well in our F150. Our dog Jake was always wanting to get close to us from the back seat which was dangerous if I had to come to a full stop. The mesh screen is high enough to keep him at bay yet he can still see what’s going on ahead. Pretty…[Read more]
We’ve been taking the cats with us, and have both in harness with short leads attached to the rear seat frame that allows them to get as far as the center console in our F150. Prevents them from interfering with the driver, and stops them from bolting if they are freaked out and we open the door. We have carriers in the back of the truck in case…[Read more]
I’m really thinking that at the very minimum we will need a tether otherwise she will be up and down and back and forth. My daughter will be at the dinette, so I could see the dog going back and forth between Noelle and I…..
First, they are not that expensive. In debates like this my wife and I rely on what is called the Alph-Beta Error approach. There are 4 possible outcomes: Your husband is right (you don’t buy the harness and you never get into an accident); You are right (you buy the harness and you do get into an accident and your dog is safe). And the Alpha…[Read more]
