We have attended the Anacortes Wine festival since its inception. If you are in Lower BC or Washington State and looking to get away for a day or two on April 12 weekend then this may be the event for you.

    A few highlights:
    • $40 per person for all the wine and food you can handle. The wine and food is top rate plus the entertainment is always good. This year has a local Jazz singer.
    • The venue is an old boat building loft, it exudes ‘character’.
    • Anacortes is an amazing little fishing town full of antique stores, galleries and loads of walking and exploring.
    • Its one hour from the border, for those in BC.
    • The surrounding areas are awesome for driving, camping and other exploration.
    • The local food, The local food, The local food from four star fresh fish (Anthonys) to real East Coast Taverns (my fav The Brown Lantern)
    • If you stay in a motel, they are reasonably priced. One of the hotels has actual wood burning fireplaces in the room.
    • Some of the local campgrounds have little cabins you can rent, cook in, use as a base for walking / exploring. These are a little more expensive but if you have a family with kids they are a great option.
    • Taxi from the festival to the furthest hotel is $8, you can try all the wine you want! We have used Merts and will never use anybody else, what a riot this taxi is.

And if you are an RV type person, hmmm you are reading this where? The only reason you need to do this is…. To get your camper out of winter storage and prepare for the summer.

Hope to see you at the wine festival.
