@lifewithlurch Yep, I hope it doesn’t happen here, but you never know. We are South of Houston.

Just want to say hi to everyone, I’ve been following Ray on Facebook and probably missing out on other great people on Love your RV. I invited several of my full-time friends to Ray’s site. I will try to get with you all more often.
Hi to everyone. We’ve been out-of-pocket for several months due to a family situation. Looking forward soon to our first. to Escapees headquarters at Lake Livingston, TX, only a couple hours north from us. They weigh your rig and do other things. They have a mail forwarding service. Last April when we traveled to Rodeo, NM, Rusty’s RV Ranch gave…[Read more]

Here in the Houston area we had a lot of rain, and in a few days, more is coming. A lot of flash flooding…when you are only a few feet above sea level, I guess it’s par for the course. Still looking around for a one ton diesel truck so we can climb mountains. Your lucky people that are already in cooler places! Stay safe.

Why does the Government stick their nose in everything. Our Homeowner’s Association complained about our 5th wheel being in our driveway! We only had it there 3 days (which is allowed for loading and unloading). Ken sent them a letter back protesting the violation! Makes me want to ditch this fancy fancy subdivision!! ![]()

Yum, sounds good to mix these up and keep handy. We are on the Paleo diet, meat, eggs, some cheese, lots of veggies, no grain breads, crackers, chips, (no gluten grain products or very little). Some fruit in moderation. (Fruit is full of sugar, even though it’s a natural sugar). I Am losing weight, which is the purpose of this diet for me, however…[Read more]

Vinegar and news papers sounds good also. I’ve heard this works well from people before. Works for your house and RV, or any windows, car, truck, everything.

Interesting, I never thought about this when our 5th wheel is in storage. We definitely need to get the dehumidifiers in it. It gets so hot and humid here in the Summer. Thanks for bringing this up?

It’s really cute!
@dmtravis Lucky You! Would love a trip later on to Yosemite! Also want to see Yellowstone National Park. My husband is from Bonners Ferry, ID, almost to Canadian border! We usually go up there once a year. To get there, we fly into Spokane, WA, rent a car, and drive North 125 miles! Figured out it will be cheaper to continue doing that…[Read more]

Hi Sharon!! Yosemite is really cool. We are staying at Yosemite lakes RV resort, thousand trails…… WiFi is not the greatest, but no problem we will get back to civilization soon enough! We are going to full-time rv after retirement in 2015! Can’t wait!
-
Sounds great, I’m looking at used one ton diesel trucks, but DH isn’t thrilled about financing it…..we are also going to look into TT, and PA. We do belong to Good Sam and Escapees. Have fun, I know how beautiful it is up there.

We’ve been in Rodeo, NM for 4 days. (54 miles North of Douglas, AZ) . Ken, me, and my cousin (who has lived here all his life) drove up into the Arizona Chiricahua Mountains. To the East of us is the is the New Mexico Peloncillo Mountains, Rodeo is close to the Arizona line and the mountains are beautiful! The rock formations are awesome.…[Read more]

Sounds great Sharon, except for the wind. We’ve been in a few blows over the years, one was in Newfoundland when the tail end of a hurricane blew through, that is now my benchmark, haha. One tip for big wind, not sure if you did it is to hook the truck back up and lower the jacks and place some the weight on the truck. It really helps reduce the…[Read more]

That’s good to know. We thought of hooking it back up to the truck for stability, but that wind was so bad, we were not sure about doing anything. Can’t imagine being in any hurricane winds! Living on the Gulf coast we know what even a side-swipe can be like! We went thru Ike a few years that did a job on Galveston and us. We are just 30 miles…[Read more]

Like that tip for next time, it’s also going to be Hurricane Season soon here. We plan on leaving the next time and taking our rig out of the danger zone….the heck, with the house! Just kidding…

Added pictures, my cousin (Loyd Mauzy) is all country, and cowboy, won lots of medals for roping competitions. Has broken almost every bone in his body over the years. He knows that mountains! He used to run cows thru them on horseback! Pretty much retired now. He’s 75. The mountains are the Chiricahua Mountains. Loyd Still has a horse. The…[Read more]

We had planned to get over that way this winter but kinda ran outta time, hopefully next year. He sure looks like a cowboy.
Nice photo.-
Yep, he said he did more visiting with us than he had done in eons. Loved exchanging views on our family, we share the same grandparents. He told us all about roping, how he was so in tune with his horse when roping, that no one else could ride the horse, the horse was used to his way of riding him in competitions that it got really confused with…[Read more]

Hi Sharon, glad to have you as a friend one of my husbands sisters lives in Houston, we hope to travel there sometime next year when we retire. Never been to Texas.
-
Are you full-time or part-time? There are pros and cons either way. We are part-time, but are planning on being gone up to a month or more at a time in the near future to a cooler place for the Summer, our Summers are soooo hot and humid! Our Houston winters are OK.
-
Well, you’ll have to let us know when you will be in Houston, so we can give you a big Texas welcome! Texas is BIG. Our weather here on the Gulf coast is like New Orleans weather, hot and humid all Summer, actually most of the year….

Cleaned up the fifth wheel inside and out, flushed out all the tanks, added a little fresh water to grey and black tanks and got it back in storage spot. It’s a back-in and Ken does a great job of it. Here’s really got the hang of it down, so proud of him. Ray, your UTube on how to back in was really studied by Ken..appreciate your site!…[Read more]

Early morning a couple days ago and 35 degrees outside, Unusual for the Houston area! It snowed yesterday in Dallas. Today is warmer, until the next front comes in! We live in League City, TX, 25 min. south of Houston and are part-time RVers
Pretty cold nights around 36-38F over here in the very south west of Texas, we have been burning quite a bit of propane.
A new front is coming in around We’d. or Friday. Our Keystone Sprinter is polarized, whatever that really means. We would be leary of taking it where it’s below freezing. What do you think? Is the polarized feature dependable with freezing weather? Have you put it to the test? Ken (my hubby) says this next cold swipe should be the last one this…[Read more]
Don’t forget about the Easter frost, Sharon!
Ours says the same. It’s basically marketing hype. They enclose the underbelly with thin plastic and bubble insulation and put a small vent from the main furnace down there to heat the tanks but it’s not much help in the really cold. OK for a little bit of freezing weather say if it drops for a few hours overnight, you’ll be OK. We have seen…[Read more]
Thank you Ray, good to know! I was worried about that as we want to make a trip in the Fall to Idaho. The cost of gas vs. flying Is Ken’s point. Wish we were full-timers sometimes….so that would not be an issue…..
