Our 5th wheel has a black water flush inlet on the side of the trailer. We can’t figure out how to use it. the directions say, “Caution: If you coach is equipped with a black tank flush system, always open the safety valve under the bath storage compartment before using the flush system. TO AVOID BURSTING THE TANK never operate the flush with the…[Read more]

While living in S. Cal. we saw a trailer we wanted in Mesa, AZ so we had a day trip and bought it. 2005 Carriage Cameo, 35ft 11in , 5th wheel with four slide outs. We love it. Instead of getting a truck we contracted with a transport company to deliver it to Rahchos de Taos, NM. We stayed in a motel awaiting it’s arrival. The day of scheduled…[Read more]

RV Newbies 6 months ago · updated 6 months agoWe want to buy a used 5th wheel some time this year. Is there any time of the year that is the best time to get the best deals?
-
We just bought our new-to-us 5ver just before Christmas. Got a great deal and we feel that with gas prices dropping that more will be in the market at the first hint of spring and so the prices and choices will probably rise.
-
More choices is good, higher prices not so good.

Art and Mary,
I have a new 2015 Montana 3611RL on order, due in January sometime. Whatever you buy, I recommend using https://lakeshore-rv.com/rv-dealers-custom-build to get ballpark pricing. Take the Competitors Price, and subtract 30% (at least on the Montana), for the price you should shoot for. I was able to get a little better price…[Read more]

Thanks for your response John. We are going for a used 5th wheel. We have a budget of $20,000 – $25,000 and are hoping to find something around 34-36ft. We plan to buy in Oregon where there is no sales tax. I have relatives there so I can have a local residence until we get set up.

@weebee9 Hi Bob and Phyllis, What kind of 5th wheel do you have? Are you a full timer or just use it for vacations? Thanks for joining RV Happy Hour.

RV Newbies 10 months ago · updated 10 months agoWhen staying in one place for 4 – 6 months, how do you care for your tires other then covering them? Should you jack up the axles or not?
-
Strangely enough, ground moisture can damage the tires. I have my tires on concrete sidewalk blocks to keep them off the dirt. Tire covers to keep the sun off them, and I check the pressure at least twice a season to keep them up properly.
-
I’ve never thought about it because I move pretty often and wear my tires out every few years, but I have seen guys use blocks of wood or plastic under the tires to create a barrier between the ground surface, I’ve also heard it’s good to have them at max inflation. In the long term parks I’ve stayed in I didn’t see to many on jacks, so not sure…[Read more]

We are former full timers and can hardly wait to get back into a trailer. Loved it! We are hoping to buy a 34ft, or so , 5th wheel in Oregon sometime next spring, stay until the weather gets too wet , put the trailer in storage, then stay with relatives in S. Cal. over the winter. We have our eye on the Twin Rivers Vacation Park, Roseburg. We…[Read more]

Our black tank flush has a valve under the bathroom sink but it has no adjustment. It is a check valve to prevent black tank fumes or liquid from coming back out the flush pipe.
