If you are heading to or thru Southern Arizona, here is a great place for a couple day stay!

The campground is part of the Arizona State Parks system, and is adjacent to the Kartchner Caverns. 60+ campsites, well spread out, with paved roads and pads. Each campsite has a picnic table, electric service and water hook-up. No sewer hook-ups, but a convenient dump station at the campground entrance/exit. The Visitor Center for the Caverns is an easy walk from your campsite, and there are two developed and maintained hiking trails – 2.5-mile and 4.2-mile loops. Very scenic if you like vast desert vistas and sunrises or sunsets!

If you are looking for a very nice, comfortable, and reasonably priced campground ($25 per night) with choice of back-in or pull-thru sites, this is a great location for seeing lots of nearby attractions (Bisbee, Tombstone, Elgin wineries, etc.) But, plan to spend a day touring the Caverns also. Absolutely amazing 1.5-hour guided tours in a living, wet cave, with some of the most spectacular scenery you’ve ever seen in a hole-in-the-ground! (And that comes from a fan of the Grand Canyon, that other scenic wonder, in the northern part of our state!)

We were happy campers, last weekend, at Kartchner Cavern Campground!

Thanks for the heads up, we just about went there last year but were on a tight schedule to get to Texas, hopefully we will get over that way again this year. One of our RVHH members Don Kline @northidaho does some work camping there and also highly recommends it.

We also wanted to check out Chiricahua National Monument, it was a little flood out last year.

Thanks Doug for the info, this sounds like a great place. We plan on going near there this year, so will have to put this on our itinerary. :bye:
