Yellowstone Falls and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is a “must see”. We are fortunate in that we’re having really good weather for our trip, hopefully it will hold for our next leg through the Grand Tetons.

Today we went to Yellowstone Lake. Much larger than I expected. Reminded me a little of Lake Tahoe. Tomorrow we’ll spend time at Yellowstone Falls.

Our first trip to Yellowstone National Park. We’re staying at the Yellowstone River’s Edge RV Park in Emigrant, Montana. The first day it rained hard so we went into Bozeman and replenished some of our supplies. However, the second day we were able to get into the park with good sunshiny day.
This is one of the most gorgeous places on ear…[Read more]

@benfergie Glad to have a fellow woodworker as an RV buddy.
-
Glad to meet you! I’ve brought along some hand tools to keep my hand in it but it’s been tough to find the time between working and traveling.
-
I hear you. Lately I’ve been doing a lot more woodturning than flat work. Maybe I have a short attention span, but I can start and finish a turned project in a day or two. And your right, out on the road I do miss my shop.
-
I like turning too, I tried bringing my small Delta lathe along but that didn’t work out too well. My woodworking and Deb’s weaving are the biggest reasons why we are considering going back to ‘brinks and mortar’ housing. We would still do extensive trips however.
-
That’s what we’re going to do too. We’re going to keep our home here in Richland and traveling for two to three weeks at a time. I’m retiring this fall, but my wife’s going to keep teaching for three or four more years. In the summer we’ll be traveling for three to four weeks at a time. Being home alone with the Airedales for 10 months a ye…[Read more]

@trackman Headed out to Conconully Wednesday to kill some fish!
-
Great idea. What kind of an RV setup do you have? The reason I ask, We’re thinking of going up that way later this year and I was wondering if there were good places to park our 33′ 5th wheel.
-
We have a 32 foot 5th wheel and are just learning our way around. I’ll check around but I like the VFW park between Orting and South Prairie.
-
Cape Disappointment is very well liked and is a beautiful state park. It is at the mouth of the Columbia river on the Washington side with 20 minute access to Astoria Oregon.
-
-
George, We stay at the Shady Pines resort there but there is also Liar’s Cove which is very popular and a state park as well.
-
I’m always concerned about how much room an RV park has. We’ve been in some pretty tight spots with our Montana 5th wheel in parks that advertise wide open spaces. I’ll go on-line and check out the parks that you suggested. Thanks.
-
@trackman Hi George its good to have you as our freind.

@trackman Have been told it is the most exacting hitch to hook up to but after a few times it get easier. Have a new Montana with the auto level syst and I don’t quite have it down pat yet but the computer will remember the hight of front jacks and put them in that position when hooking up. First time I set up with the thing it has an auto level…[Read more]

We have the Auto-Level (only four) on our Montana and I hear what your saying about the “pucker factor”. After having the Auto Level system, I can’t imagine going back to a manual. I’ve seen different post from people who’ve had trouble with the Auto system, but ours has worked great so far.
-
Thanks for the info. Next trailer we get might have it and I will be sure to have the level as part of the PDI. Sounds scary and i want someone around that will know about it.

Sound like you are having a great time. Enjoy! The Grand Tetons have a lot to offer as well. Jackson has the night rodeo and lots of other cultural events. 4th of July has a great fireworks display and a world class outdoor symphony. Might be on the weekend this year due to the 4th being on a Monday.
