@Lonney has been posting to activity some very nice mods and upgrades he has made, thought I would add them here in this forum also, so folks can easily find them all in the future – Ray
Hi Ray, I have 2 more AGM batteries to get, altogether there will be 7 batteries plus I have built a DC charger 13hp Diesel engine that pushes 320 amps to charge the batteries, the charger head can push up to 24 volts but I will not take it that far, I also put 2/0 cable from the battery on the truck to the back bed with 350 amp Anderson Power Poles and then plugs into the 5th wheel and the cables go up in the camper down into the camper bay in the front where the batteries are and the batteries can slide in and out on a tray that I built. I did a test, I turned on the roof air and the fridge on the inverter and batteries, and it all came on and got cold; the test worked well.
I backed the truck to the camper and plugged the cables in, it handle the things running but also fully charge the batteries to 12.9, test was done and the batteries stayed at that voltage all night and the next day. This is a 1314- 200, sure power Battery Separator 12V W AUX start 200amp, when the camper batteries get fully charged the charge to the camper will stop and will come back on when needed without messing with the trucks 2 batteries charging system, totally 2 charging systems and if your truck batteries are dead it will switch over and you can jump start your truck with the camper batteries, pretty cool I think.
LonneyWith this cable in the bed hooked to the camper I can run the fridge on AC on the inverter going down the road and charge the 6 batteries.
Fridge uses only 400 watts AC and if it’s hot outside I can turn the roof air on maybe about a hour before we get to our stop for the day to cool down the 5th wheel RV, roof air uses about 1920 watts AC, truck has 2 alternators at 125 amps each totaling 250 amps.
The plan was to save on propane I hope.
LonneyThese cables will plug into the truck with the Anderson power poles and charge the batteries in the 5th wheel RV when we are on the road.
When I turned on the roof air and the fridge and plug into the truck it was pushing 194 amps at the RV camper batteries with the truck engine idling and the 2 alternators were quiet.
LonneyThis is my battery charger I built, can push up to 320 amps, has a 13 hp diesel engine, the charger head has to turn 8000 rpms to stay cool under load, I push the volts up to hard one time and it stalled the engine and through the belt off, I was sweating it, but everything is good now.
It has a adjustable voltage regulator, goes up to 24 volts but 15 volts is good enough, it will charge the 6 agm batteries in about 1 to 1.5 hours at 50% down in charge, about 12.1 volts and take them up to about 12.8 volts.
LonneyThis is a Aluminum Tank Air Compressor Ultra Quiet only 60 Decibels, I put it in by the water pump and hot water tank, weight is only 35 pounds, goes up to 125 PSI.
LonneyThis is two 7 gallon aluminum air tanks I also put by the hot water heater, it was a little tight fit but I got them in, I had to built a small platform for the tanks, tanks are super light, it adds more air volume for the air compressor.
LonneyThis is 50 feet of retractable air hose reel, shut off valve, pressure gauge and Air Compressor on and off switch.
LonneyI put 2 computer fans in the fridge cooling fins, I put a Flexcharge Night Watchman 12V Photoswitch buy the light so when you close the fridge the fans turn on and when you open the fridge the fans turn off, Ta-da.
