Completed the basic structure of the daybed getting most of the functionality working, now it’s mostly prettying it up and adding a leather mattress pad and cushions.

Coming along nicely! Isn’t it going to be a little bit high once you add the foam?

We’ll see after we pick out the foam. I went higher to gain more storage space, but can easily cut it down if need be. Much easier to reduce the height than to go too low and try to add-on.

We don’t really use it as a sitting type couch so much. More a place to lie back and watch TV or have an afternoon nap.

    “Civilization, the pursuit of comfort.”

This is one of the areas we want to upgrade before we head south. I’m not heavy (165 lb), but the dinette cushions bottom out fairly fast, and the rear bunk, where I like to nap, has the same problem in the hip area. I think this becomes important on a rainy day or when you’ve got a computer project that’s going to take a while. We won’t even talk about the stock bed mattress.

In the teardrop, we had 6″ mattress foam for the bed, extremely comfortable, slept very well, lasted for many years. We did the same upgrade for the mattress in our class C, worth every penny. I think thicker or denser is the way to go.
