Have started hearing chewing under the hood of 2011 f-350 ford. Quite loud could hear it 5 feet away. Guessing red squirrel nest or mice or maybe rats. Living in country anyone that feeds animals can get rats. First time in ten years going to use d-con. Don’t want to ,but need to get rid of whats living down in the crevises of engine. I can see a shroud getting eaten there is exposed fiberglass about 8 inches where there chewing. So after putting a bait station of pellets on engine ,its gone next day, second day another is 3/4 gone. Wish I knew whats in there, hope they didn’t eat any wires or hoses. After the feeding stops in a few days will take a few mile test run ,checking for damage parking on concrete looking for leaks. Anyone else ever had problems in truck or camper?

We have had mice in the kitchen area of our RV but not the engine. We have put mothballs around the RV when in storage, that helped alot.

The place where we store or RV….. Says don’t leave any food at all in the RV, cause they don’t want rats! Hope your engine compartment is ok, Larry! Those rats love to chew, they have to cause there teeth grow constantly. Had some days move into a storage shed once… What a mess!!!

Down in the desert I noticed a lot of boondockers left there vehicle front hood open, I thought is was a battery charging thing , but turns out it is to keep mice out of the engine. Seems just that little bit of light keeps them from nesting, some folks used rope lighting around the rig. We had a mouse in Yuma invade the rig, Anne freaked out and told me GET RID OF THAT MOUSE! Next day I got old fashion type traps from Home Depot, a little string cheese on the trigger and mickey the desert mouse was dead. RIP.  B-)
