For two weeks, we’ve got top chefs sharing their little-known tricks for backyard cooking. French Toast link.
1996 Honorbuilt Eldorado C320 "Lurch" | Chewbacca is my co-pilotJune 8, 2014 at 8:45 pm #4117I prefer my french toast a little simpler, just egg, milk, cinnamon, a little vanilla, and the french bread is an absolute must. Topped with pancake syrup, who needs bacon? Like dessert for breakfast!
June 9, 2014 at 8:50 am #4126Maple syrup is my preferred topping. Gotta have bacon too!
June 9, 2014 at 1:52 pm #4132OMG, Roger! Did you just say “who needs bacon?”
1996 Honorbuilt Eldorado C320 "Lurch" | Chewbacca is my co-pilotJune 9, 2014 at 2:49 pm #4133I made Anne some wicked french toast a little while ago. Blueberry Cheesecake French Toast
Made regular french toast then on top I put plain New York Cheese cake i had melted down in a sauce pan and mixed it with fresh blueberries.
I was a hero for a while.
Ray - Love Your RV!June 9, 2014 at 4:22 pm #4135Now that sounds decadent!
“I was a hero for a while.”
Once in a while, even males can have a brilliant idea.
June 9, 2014 at 4:26 pm #4136Bacon is a food group unto itself, and shouldn’t be contaminated with syrup. Breakfast sausages, on the other hand, are much improved by syrup!
June 9, 2014 at 5:07 pm #4137Whew! Had me worried for a minute there….bravo, Roger!
1996 Honorbuilt Eldorado C320 "Lurch" | Chewbacca is my co-pilotJune 9, 2014 at 7:16 pm #4140I love French Toast! I like to use Texas Toast (really think white bread) and lots of egg. Soaked over night. Just a small amount of maple syrup, I don’t want to cover up the egg taste too much. That’s it.
June 10, 2014 at 5:41 am #4146I’m sure it’s not as good as homemade, but we have a local Diner that makes Texas Toast with those really thick slices of bread. Yum Yum!
June 10, 2014 at 4:11 pm #4157That looks good enough to eat, fancy for camping, but as long as my job is eating ,im happy with it.
June 10, 2014 at 4:55 pm #4163Wow, Gail! I never heard of soaking it overnight. Now THAT is something I wanna try! I’m with you on the egg taste…that’s the whole point to me…and yeah, Texas Toast for sure!

June 11, 2014 at 7:53 am #4187MMMMMMM , sounds great, have to try that one! We have made it with Ciabatta (italian type bread), challah (jewish braided bread), they were very good and different. We very often try any bread in the house that is getting stale.
