Any other late night radio listeners here?
At night I like to fall a sleep to the radio, Anne likes reads but I like to listen. Usually if I had WiFi I do the podcast thing but when out in remote areas without WiFi rather than eat up our cell data I listen to the radio.
This year for my birthday I put the request in for a C Crane Radio, suppose to have great reception. I finally got it the other day as we waited to till we hit the US for cheaper shipping. So far I love it. It’s built like things use to be built. Large heavy speaker and nice feeling controls. Will be out of the city noise soon so I can really test out the AM reception. It also has a weather band with alert mode and a 2 meter Ham band. Of course a review will be coming soon.
So far I love it. RVHH Chief Cook and Bottle Washer - LoveYourRV.comDecember 2, 2014 at 8:33 pm #7801Looks real nice Ray,
Really does remind of the radios of old. I like the Ham part! My grandfather was a huge ham radio fan 50 years ago!!

AnonymousIt looks very similar to a Radio Shack shortwave I bought many years ago, which still works great. A Realistic DX-375 “Voice of the World”. If it performs anything like it, you’ll be very happy with it’s long range reception on both AM and FM.

RVHH Chief Cook and Bottle Washer - LoveYourRV.comFebruary 9, 2015 at 8:33 pm #8980Ray, just been catching up on old posts and ran across this one about the c crane radio. I, too, am a late night listener, and have heard the ads for this company on a program called Coast to Coast AM with George Noury. It used to be hosted by Art Bell and originated in Pahrump, NV. Most of it is pretty far out stuff: alien invaders, big foot and topics like that, but I get a kick out of it and sometimes they have some interesting guests. I’ve been tempted to get the same radio. Do you still like it now that you’ve had it for a couple of months?

I really like it. Wish it had more presets, only five but they are easy to set. Has a sleep timer and alarm and 4 stage dimming display. Has a real quality, heavy feel to it.
I’ve listened to that show quite often, it’s on a lot of stations late at night. Good stuff sometimes, haha. Takes my mind of things and puts me to sleep. I like the NPR stations as well, BBC news and documentary type shows from around the world.
So far I’m liking the radio. Way over here in no where land AZ south of Tucson I’m pulling in stations from LA, San Francisco, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Some nights are better than others and reception tends to get better the later in the night it is. It doesn’t totally eliminate fade out like they say but does do a pretty good job with very weak stations boosting reception a bit and cleaning it up.
The sound is excellent out of the heavy large speaker, FM is really nice sounding with good bass for a table top unit, makes a nice radio for sitting with outside the RV, it also has input jacks to plug an Ipod type device in. It is fun to listen to the banter on the ham band as well.

AnonymousIf we all worried about what others thought, it would be pretty quiet here. To old to be a fruitcake, I prefer quaintly eccentric!
