Inside front battery box on 5th wheel. Install a toggle switch to landing gear hot wire just inside from the control switch and after you drop and set up trailer switch power off to the outside controls. Lock battery box. That way if someone backs up to steal trailer if it is not at the right height for his truck he is screwed. He won’t be able to raise or lower trailer.

    Hi Ed, good idea!

We have a pull out power disconnect in our battery/electrical front 5th wheel compartment. It disconnects the Jacks and the slide-out pump power. If that try to take the rig they won’t  get far if we pull the disconnect out and take it with.

    Happy Trails!!!

We put a pin lock on our 5th wheel that is secured with a padlock and we just bought a Trimax TCL75 Wheel Chock Lock (from Amazon for $81) for one of the tires. These both are just honest thief deterrents, if you are parked somewhere close to others, they will just move on to something easier to move.

We were warned when we got stopped by the RCMP just outside of Edmonton, Alberta, that RV/5th wheel/trailer thefts are rampant. They had just broken up a ring and now are in the habit of checking almost all the rigs they see on the road. We had driven across Canada and were on our way back and hadn’t even given theft of the rig a consideration and were not using any anti-theft devices at all. We noticed that some of the RV parks in Alberta were advising people to be sure to use their pin locks.

We just had a friend have his boat and trailer stolen on Vancouver Island.
