I had mentioned this mod to Ray last year and just got around to doing it this week so I will attempt to load some photos but I’m not the most computer savy guy, bear with me.

I got so tired of dragging items into and out of the basement storage area and sometimes not being able to lift them over that lip where the door closes and I’m sure anyone who ever bought a used RV has seen this damage as well. And what do you do after you bend that lip?.well you straighten it with a piece of wood and a hammer or a pair of pliers only to bend it again later,SSOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo.

I came up with this thought of making a small “loading area” if you will with some scrap wood and a couple pieces of Aluminum scrap I had so when finished the aluminum plate is flush with the basement door lip and I can drag stuff in and out and never bend it again.

My propane bottles mount in the front storage area of the rig so I also made these for that area which will make loading and unloading the bottles easier and again,no more bending the door lip seal.

I won’t put sizes in here now as your basement entry might be a different size than mine and please take note that you will want to leave room between your door locks when doing this mod so they will still lock. After this install I am installing the “Ace Locks” on the doors as Ray has done to hinder my stuff from walking away.

This first photo show what I used for this project which was two pieces of wood that were cut to specific size as well as the scrap aluminum which I used from an old bent bed rail and cut it down and 7 screws and some sealant to seal either side of the install just because I was anal about the look, lol.

This photo is of the completed install. The sealant I used to caulk on either side of the mod was extra bathroom sealant I had from a project that goes on white but dries clear. It will keep the dirt out of the cracks there.

Yes,I realize I will loose about an inch there but it is worth it and I’ll just pack around it.

    Thanks Ray,

I am setting up the bed of our pickup this week so I will post some photos of that mod as I start from scratch adding the toolbox and fuel cans etc.

Also going to add the shock absorber kits to the 5er rear axles ,so I’ll try to add photos of that mod as well.

I understand from several folks including Eddie that the shock kits make a huge difference to the rig. :bye:
