Have any of yall ever worked the sugar beet harvest. See where they can make some good money and unfortunately its some long hrs. but it looks like some real good funds in a short time.

I’m going to assume you have your CDL and hopefully it’s a class A.  I have a buddy who did it last year in North Dakota and he didn’t care for it but he’s REALLY picky about work trucks.  Keep in mind that you will be driving stuff that’s held together with spit and string as DOT doesn’t bother farm vehicles like they do regular commercial trucks.

I’ve considered following the harvests myself but I just don’t want to work that hard.

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell all of my guns....

For what I told her I paid for them.

You evidently wouldn’t have rode in my first car. Held together by whatever we could get to keep it going. I aint scared. Was hoping someone else who wasn’t had tried it and would share. Oh why do you need a CDL to drive a farm tractor or front end loader as far as that goes to handle a shovel. Just wondering. Thanks

If you want to drive a beet truck you’ll need a CDL and the good money goes to the guys who drive the B-trains (110+ feet long).  If you’re just looking at running a harvester or working the stackers at the dump point then no.

My buddy is the picky one when it comes to trucks, I got out of tanker trains in 2013 when a trainee rolled the truck we were in and almost killed me.  My wife requested that I stop driving stuff that blows up so I now drive construction trucks and move equipment.  The only only dump trucks out there that could pass a DOT are the ones owned by the government so spit and string really doesn’t bother me as long as I have more string to fix stuff.
