I just started using the heater in my RV, due to the cold temperatures. I only have one 12 volt battery to power my RV when not plugged in.  I found that I can not run the blower on high all night. It will run the battery down to empty. So, I now get the RV nice and warm before going to bed and then shut it off. But I must get up in the early morning to start the generator and the heater to rewarm the RV. Wait for the RV to heat up then shut them off and go back to sleep. What is the key to using the heater all night?

    Thanks James

Hi James, the only things you can do is to get a bigger battery bank or get a wave-8 heater like us or a big Buddy heater like Ray has. These gas space heaters need no power to run, and will not deplete your 12-volt system.

Your RV furnace will pull heavy amount of amps out of your batteries. These are the only fixes to your problem I know.

    Happy Trails!!!

We purchased the Olympian Wave 8 in 2015 and loved it. However it has it’s drawbacks that I didn’t know about at the time. It’s not suitable if you have pets which we don’t, but there is only a screen between the red hot pad surface and your pet. The platinum pad is easily contaminated by dust which we have lots of camping in the desert. And the one that really frosted me is you have to send it back to Camco in Greensborough N.C. for servicing as they will not ship you parts and there are no service dealers. This all came about last summer when we had a mouse get into our rig and it damaged the platinum pad making the heater dangerous to use. I was quoted $37 shipping each way $45 for the pad and $85 to have it installed. Geez…we only had it 6 months!! For that price we ended up buying a 30,000 btu Superior Blue Flame Heater in Quartzsite, AZ for $260. Another popular one there is the Procom. They are nicer to look at and have a glass face to protect your pets.

    Cheers!
