Hi Rick,
We have never spent any time camping in Devils Lake but the pickings are kinda slim.
There is the State park there on the lake which is very nice and just re-opened a few years ago after some major work. Then there is the Indian Reservation and both areas are south of Devils Lake on Hwy 20.Lisa and I have spent some time at the Rez on Wednesday nights ( Seafood Night ) at the buffet and I love the crab legs and steak.
There are a few private areas that don’t advertise primarily because they are more summer haunts for seasonals.
We like to go up around Langdon to several areas but that’s a good 60 miles from Devils Lake.
April 18, 2015 at 4:30 pm #10232Hey Eddie and Aileen,
We plan to be fulltiming by this fall.Just put it off way to many years.Speaking of toys,Lisa sold her 1978 Z28 high option car last week and my Nephew is picking up the Hemi Challenger in 3 weeks,so the toys while not worn out,are certainly going to new homes, lol.
So much to dispose of but we’ll get it done.
I’m a heart attack survivor and Lisa recently suffered from some TIA mini strokes so it’s time to de-clutter and de-stress and we’re really FINALLY getting into it.Anyone need any cats before I take em to the Chinese eatery?.
April 18, 2015 at 5:05 pm #10244We’re new here so finding our way around this great site,Thanks Ray.
I’ll try to post these few photos of the rig.We took out the two chairs as they were old and not oem to the rig.We also removed the oem sofa sleeper, not because it was worn out but because we have a nearly new brown sleeper love seat that was just 3 inches longer than the factory unit and ours is a Lazy Boy we have had a year and never sat on,so in it goes.We are also using our nearly new Lazy Boy recliner to replace one of the chairs and an Amish built Hickory rocker a dear Amish friend of mine made to fit me years ago.
We will use the oem table and four chairs which we love compared to our previous fifth wheel and it’s built in unit.
So with all that said, with the furniture removed and the table set on top of the bar,Lisa steam cleaned the entire rig.Did I mention she is a clean freak, lol.
One of the items we also like on this rig is the larger “U” shaped kitchen with all that extra storage.
I have to mention this that as clean as this rig actually was,it had the absolutely direst stove I have ever seen,LOL,and we have spent alot of time taking everything apart and cleaning and cleaning some more.
Lots to do yet.I have four batteries to install with 200 watts of solar and hopefully another 200 watts later on as we prefer dry camping.I enjoyed watching Rays video on his solar and I noticed a mention of Andy Baird a few days ago and I know Andy installed some serious solar in his rig.I am thinking it was like 600 watts if I recall correctly.Like Ray,Andy is a great guy and I have followed him for several years.
I will move the two propane tanks and thei mount over to the right a few inches so I can mount one of my two spare tanks next to them. The other will go in the bed of the truck mounted in a propane tank mount off a forklift with a lock so I’ll have four total.
Roof looks great but I will clean it and reseal around the bathroom skylight with eternabond.I do need to replace two Gutter extensions and ordered those.
Really looking forward to our new life fulltiming.I have traveled to ever US state but never had the time to do what I really wanted,so this is going to be a great adventure.

April 19, 2015 at 5:57 pm #10259Well,We got the interior all cleaned and the carpet all steam cleaned.Even got the stove spotlessly clean.
Got the overstuffed recliner and the Amish rocker inside,BUT,went to put the Lazy Boy love seat sleeper we have inside and we were 3/4 of and inch to large to make it thru the door,,,,,GRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrr.any Ideas?.
April 19, 2015 at 6:45 pm #10262I have herd of people removing the slide to get larger objects in.
Kick the tires, light the fires and hit the road!!April 19, 2015 at 9:02 pm #10268I actually thought of that Rick and appreciate your thoughts.I called a friend of mine that worked in his family’s RV dealership for many years and asked about removing the door as that will give me that 3/4 of an inch but just afraid of creating water intrusion issues down the road if I don’t re-hang that door frame correctly.I am puting it on the back burner for now.We have all summer to deal with it,but I very well might take the rig 4 blocks down the street where we bought it and have em pull that slide out so I can get that love seat in there.I better check the cost of that for sure and it may be a great time to replace the outer seals that are drying out just a tad.
April 20, 2015 at 10:59 am #10278We took our new rig out to the local KOA this weekend with our friends and their brand spanking new 33′ travel trailer for the inaugural shack down cruises of the two units. All went well, everything worked and no surprises. Our new second hand 26′ rig with a slideout is unbelievably more comfortable then our old 19′ one. The whether was nice and sunny and warm on Friday and Saturday, we sat out by the fire until wee hours of the morning enjoying toasting marshmallows and then dipping them into Bailey’s Irish creame, A must try recipe! Sunday morning we woke up to temperatures one degree above freezing, heavy rain and strong north wind. Also the frost was starting to come out with the rain over night and the Fifthwheel had sunk halfway to the axles in the soft ground. But no worries, this new fifthwheel is such a joy to pack away and hook up!! It only took me five minutes to get hooked up and a good tug from Big Red, our truck, and we were on the road headed home.
Here’s a couple of photos.

Like those little fires! Just have to decide what I can unload to make room for one. Glad you had a good RV trip and like the rig. Cheers!
RVHH Chief Cook and Bottle Washer - LoveYourRV.comApril 20, 2015 at 6:39 pm #10291Thanks guys
Ray they are Outland portable fire pits. Costco had them on for 90 bucks last week. Most places they’re $130 to $160. There was a fire ban on this past weekend so no open fires but these are allowed and you can still roast marshmallows over it!
Kick the tires, light the fires and hit the road!!April 21, 2015 at 1:23 am #10296I started looking at those fire pits a wk ago and found one on eBay for $50 and free shipping:

Nice to see they helped during the fire ban.
April 21, 2015 at 6:46 am #10299The one we have is a propane fire pit which produces no sparks or embers, this is why we can use it during a burn ban. The one you were looking at is a wood fueled fire pit and would not be allowed to be used during a burn ban at least up here in Manitoba Canada.
This is the one that we have :

Kick the tires, light the fires and hit the road!!April 21, 2015 at 7:19 am #10302Ohhh, I didn’t notice. I like it, nice Rick. Does it come with a grate? I see it at $140, not bad
April 21, 2015 at 7:41 am #10305No it doesn’t come with a grate but you can find a grate at Waly World or Cabela’s for a few bucks. Here’s one I just found online that’s available at target through eBay for 80 bucks and the legs folds down to make it even more portable.
