I wanted to post these photos on how I did my hot water drain. My wife found this soft PVC pipe with a drain valve already attached. All I did was remove the factory plug, tape the end with Teflon tape and screw it into the plug hole. This makes draining the tank a breeze. Jeanne found this hose at Lowes for $10.00

Nice find Jeanne! Thanks for sharing Bill.

I guess you have an Atwood heater,eh? I have a Suburban where the drain plug is also the Anode rod, so no go for me.

We had heard about doing that but we have a suburban, like Ray and can’t do that.  any one have idea’s how to drain you HW tank with out all the water going in the cupboard. The drain is low to bottom and we haven’t found a way t get the water to drain without filling the cupboard first.

I have an Atwood, like Bill & Jeanne, but there’s also a built-in drain on the bottom with a handy valve you can get to.  I’m finding lots of “goodies” here on this ol’ Lurch!
