Hi, I also use a cpap and have done some research. We have a generator, but for another option found we could buy a for with a plug on the other end that is like a car cigarette lighter plug. Dewey is going to install the receptical end, in the bedroom and connect to the DC power via a light in the closet. He is also going to put one near the tires so he can have easy access power for the air pump without having to hockey the truck around close enough to use its lighter. We have 4 batteries. Of course we haven’t boondocked yet with this rig. But, we are sure looking forward to trying it out.

@lolaandrush if the cpap needs AC power to run then you’ll need a inverter to take your battery power and convert it from DC power into AC power when dry camping (camping without hookups). Depending on how many watts the cpap uses will determine how large of an inverter you’ll need and how many batteries for energy storage. With the extra energy needs of a cpap it is a good idea to look at some solar panels so you don’t have to run the generator as much, as they will fill the batteries while the sun is out. Alos that way you have two methods of acquiring energy to recharge the batteries.

RVHH member @cbreaze uses a cpap and boondocks a lot. I believe she uses a dedicated battery for the cpap

Hi Ray! I just saw this…, we still are having problems. The RV is in storage, but I may be going over there in the next day or so. I think the model is 4500? Probably I better check. I contacted the warranty place and they said to have any licences TV repair take a look and submit bid. Living in Eureka the closest TV repair is in grants pass, Oregon….. And they don’t deal with warranty companys…, LOL

The model number should be on the back on a tag or on the owner manual. I can’t find anything using 4500 so must be another number.

Sorry about that I really should read my post before submitting. You can buy a DC plug from cpap suppliers, used to plug into cigerette lighter plugs in your car. Dewey is going to install the receptacle (he can buy that at a auto store) then the cpap will run off the batteries. We are planning on getting a solar trickle charger to help recharge batteries, along with generator. Hope that helps.

LolaandRush What brand of Cpap do you have? I use a Resmed s9 autoset When I told my dealer that I camped a lot they included a DC converter. I have a cigarette lighter plug in my bedroom that I plug in to.

I am not very mechanically inclined.  I’ve looked at numerous videos about battery and inverter installation but I haven’t seen anything that explains how to hook the inverter on generator into the existing system.  Are there any videos that explain the procedure from start to finish?

If I understand your question right:

It can be confusing with similar terms used for different things.

When they say inverter with reference to a generator they are talking about how it converters energy within the generator which is different from a thing called an inverter used within the RV that converters battery power 12 volts DC to a regular 110 volts AC like in a house so you can plug things in.

An inverter type generator is generally more quiet becasue it only revs up to put out the required amount of power your using. A non-inverter generator runs flat out all the time.

This may have been discussed before but I’ll ask anyway.  Does anyone else have problems of drawer supports breaking?  Seems an unending problem in our Jayco.  We try not to put heavy items in drawers but silverware does weigh alot.  Wish they would make metal supports instead of plastic.

Good question Sharon. I wished I had the answer. I have metal supports but if you take out the drawer all the little ball barings fall out and are inpossible to put back in. (even if you could find them all).  I have a simlar problem of the bottoms falling out, there seems to be a lack of bracing on the bottom. Any one have ideas for either Sharon or me.
