Our first spam attack

Sorry, a spammer got into the site today and created a group on dieting and sent out invites. I deleted them. But I’ll have to disable letting users create groups. If you would like a specific group created let me know and I’ll create it for you, I apologize for the spam.

I’ve installed some extra spam prvention software and you’ll notice a “report user” button you can use if you see a user spamming.

Yes, unfortunately there are many automated software scripts out there that do nothing but scan the whole internet looking to place spam on forums.

I see them in my server logs all the time, luckily the anti spam software I have in place is working pretty well and keeping them out and also keeping them from registering.  Knock on wood.

My daughter was telling me that facebook gets spammed often! Just a crazy waste of time ,energy and talent. If they put their knowledge into something constructive instead who knows what great things could happen?! – Nancy

Yup, from last October, the site was only about a month old. Had to tighten up a few things, been fine since then.
