Roger’s recent post on outdoor shower low pressure got me to wondering about what must be a water conservation feature in the toilet.   When we flush the toilet the ball valve opens and dumps the goodies and the water runs into the bowl like normal.  When we close the ball valve (by letting up on the pedal) the water runs in a trickle until an inch or two of water is in the bottom.  I guess they knew that would result in a residue with the next usage so they provided what I call an RV bidet (which usually gets me a smack when I say that in front of my wife) sprayer hanging on the wall that also only operates when the pedal in down (bowl is open).  There is not half point where the bowl is closed and the water keeps flowing (like my old rig had).  The only options I can think of is to keep a jug to supplement the bowl water with or use the shower wand.

I am sure this is a great feature for boondocking but is a pain for what we do.

Any other ideas would be welcome.

I’ve never had one that worked that way, but I did have one with the “wash sprayer”. I found it to be fairly useless, not enough pressure to do anything with. We keep a toilet brush beside the commode for clean up after #2. Porcelain is no better than plastic in that area.

Could be a maladjustment in your valve linkage? They are separate from the actual ball mechanism.

Just a followup.  I went to the source and even thou it is advertised as the bowl level being adjustable this is the response I got back from Domitec:

“The 300 Series toilets do not have a water level adjustment. The pedal is what activates the incoming water supply. As soon as the pedal snaps back into the original position, the incoming water will stop. You may have water trickle into the bowl for 20 minutes after flushing, but the water level will not rise.”

I guess I will live with it.

According to the manual, you should be able to add water to the bowl without opening the ball valve all the way. It uses a snap in water valve cartridge, is yours seated in all the way? That would give you the problem you describe.

I saw on the Forest River Forum that there was a recall on the 300 model, something about trapping effluent in the base of the unit.

    Link to manual.

Roger,  Perfect!  I couldn’t find the manual (I think I got side tracked).  Just what I needed.  I will check on the recall.

Lola, Rush  Yeah, I wonder about that too.  The rep. said it could trickle for an hour or so.
