The landscape was so bizarre and the camping so inviting we just had to stop and check it out. This is one of the perks of flying by the seat of our pants without a firm schedule, being able to totally change our plans because we see something really cool.

Is the BLM campgrounds limited to 14 days? That’s a beautiful area for sure. Got to put that on the list. How far of a drive would you say it was back to any civilization?

Not sure about the 14 day thing. The little town of Carrizozo is just a few miles and has a little market, fuel, and a few restaurants. Alamogordo is a fairly large town, has a Walmart and is about 1 1/2 hrs south.
