Im trying to get ready for boon docking and when I use my water pump it does not shut off when I close the tap . I inspected all of the joints that I could find both in the trailer and under the trailer in the basement where the pump is. As well as all the joints in the water tubes. Anyone got an idea of where else to look?
Thanks
Bob
December 1, 2014 at 1:45 pm #7766Couple guesses.
Could be a leak somewhere or a bad pressure switch inside the pump, or the DC voltage is too low at the pump because of weak batteries or a bad connection somewhere.
When I run my batteries down real low the water pump won’t turn off.
Isn’t RVing fun! You get to be a full time handy man.

Thanks again Ray…With the solar my batteries are right upto snuff so it’s not low batteries. As far as leaks, I don’t see any water dripping any where after letting the pump run for 3 minutes or so. I guess I may have to look at the pump to see if that is the problem.Cherrs
December 1, 2014 at 5:35 pm #7771Depending on how much plumbing you have and how big a pump you have, sometimes it takes a while to get it all full again. Mine runs quite a bit if I’m washing dishes or showering. Do you mean it NEVER stops? Ack!

December 1, 2014 at 5:47 pm #7776The pump head has check valves built into it. If a small piece of construction debris gets into the pump, it can hold the valve open, causing it to leak back and not develop full pressure, so it doesn’t shut off. Air leaks before the pump can have the same effect.
Are you testing this with your water tank full and city water disconnected? If the city water pressure is lower than your pump pressure, you could be pumping back into their pipes.December 1, 2014 at 6:33 pm #7779I wonder if the winterizing kit (if there is one) valve is slightly open causing air to be sucked in. Has it ever been winterized Bob? Maybe water was left in the pump and damaged some innereds. Did that to my camper van pump once…
LoveYourRV.comDecember 2, 2014 at 7:50 am #7785If I forget to switch the lever back from the tank fill position my pump will cycle on and off.
Good luck!
December 2, 2014 at 10:13 am #7788Steve..when you say move the tank fill position do you mean after filling it move into normal flow I.e. When using park water?
December 2, 2014 at 10:35 am #7789That’s correct Bob.
December 2, 2014 at 10:52 am #7790Steve….Thank you, Thank you it works. Just like that a little turn of the knob.
