Finally bit the bullet and picked up a cell signal booster.
Wilson Electronics – Sleek 4G – Cell Phone Signal Booster
We have spent 3 days in a fringe area barely able to connect. Thought it would be a good place to test out this unit and so far I’m impressed. Even with the little wimpy antenna they include we suddenly have 2 bars of 4G signal, before we were lucky if we could get onto a 3g signal and even then it was painfully slow.
Will be doing a full review after I’ve played around with it for a while.
Anyone else using one of these?

April 22, 2014 at 7:27 pm #2160Sounds good Ray, will be waiting for your review on the booster. We have been needing one for some time.I had one on a analog “bag phone” back 8 years ago and helped a ton. Also looking to upgrade to a better long range wifi repeater.
On the antanna have you looked at a “Wilson Cell” antanna for big trucks? ( larger taller antanna and will hook-up into the booster and can be hard mounted if wished) You can find thelm in truck stops and on line. We use Wilson’s in our oil trucks out in Wyoming and thay work good.
Have a good trip up north!!!
April 22, 2014 at 7:41 pm #2162Yes, Eddie, will be likely be adding an RV/Trucker external antenna to the trailer before we head down south in the fall.

Includes a little video, showing the pieces you get and setup, with a few tests.
Likely will wait till fall to get the permanent mount truckers antenna as we will be on high speed cable internet this summer, yay!
RVHH Chief Cook and Bottle Washer - LoveYourRV.comMay 9, 2014 at 8:36 am #2742That’s a cool gadget, Ray. Does the SOHO version mean you don’t have to cradle your phone? I hope…

May 9, 2014 at 8:47 am #2744Yep, with that version it works without a cradle, I’ve seen some RVers who have that version installed in the RV, but it is a little expensive for the few times we seem to need the boost, most places just the MiFi picks up a pretty decent signal. I guess it would be worth getting it if spending a long time camped in a fringe reception area, more convenient for the phone calls.
RVHH Chief Cook and Bottle Washer - LoveYourRV.comMay 9, 2014 at 3:48 pm #2759Hi Ray, I wonder if you could tell me were you can get this Wilson unit, is it a “Verizon” sales product? And about how much did it cost?
Thanks pal, Have a wunderful afternoon!
May 9, 2014 at 3:58 pm #2760Should be able to pick one up a Radio Shack, it’s not a Verizon product, but if you are wanting it to work with ther particular LTE 4G you need the one with a V on the box. They all work with 3G but I guess ATT and Verizon use different frequency bands for the 4G.
I picked mine up at a Radio Shack in Newport, Oregon. It was 124.00 and they have no state taxes, sweet.

If you don’t need 4G then I belive there is a cheaper model for around 80 bucks.
RVHH Chief Cook and Bottle Washer - LoveYourRV.comMay 9, 2014 at 4:09 pm #2761Suh-weet! But I gotta have the 4G like yours. Spoiled, I know…
I guess I need to get the Verizon one, as I want to eventually get on to Millenicom. And, I have Verizon now.

May 9, 2014 at 8:36 pm #2768Thanks a bunch Ray, we have a Radio Shack up the beach in Nags Head,N.C. We will look it up and try it out. I will most likly do as you plain and put a Wilson Trucker antanna on for better distance.
Thanks again………Happy Trails!!!
May 14, 2014 at 11:20 am #3001Ray, do they work in Canada ah…with bell or telus? -:)
May 14, 2014 at 11:40 am #3003Not sure, will have to test it, I would assume the 3G would work, not sure about the 4G, I see on the website they list a Canadian / International model – http://www.wilsonelectronics.com/store/index/category/43/cradle-boosters
RVHH Chief Cook and Bottle Washer - LoveYourRV.comApril 20, 2015 at 7:47 pm #10292We are bidding on a Wilson 4G on Ebay like the one you did the video on Ray,so my question/s here are: Ray,did you ever go with an exterior antenna for this system?,and is anyone else using this Wilson system with an external/exterior antenna ( other than the small one that comes with the system?.
I am looking at an external Wilson antenna and have seen several fulltimers using it,but wondered what you folks had to say first.
Thanks in advance.
April 20, 2015 at 7:51 pm #10293Almost forgot.
My other question is I have noticed a few fulltimers commenting on getting their cell/internet service thru Millenicom I think it’s called as they have no contracts and use Verizon as well as Sprint as their carriers. The one person who’s blog I have read uses the Verizon Jetpac and claims that thru Millenicom, she get’s alot more Gigs than thru Verizon yet it is still Verizon thru Millenicom.Any comments or knowledge of them would be appreciated.
Thanks again -
