Can anyone tell me what brand or type of GPS one would get that would include the ability to entering co-ordinates into it- like mentioned in The Frugal Shunpikers Guides?
We have a regular GPS for driving but you cant enter co-ordinates into it to find a location.November 8, 2014 at 5:01 pm #7297All of the handheld models have that ability, I’m not sure about dashboard mount units. The handheld units work well in a vehicle if you prop them up in the windsheild. Good for geochacheing as well!

:bye: We have the Rand McNally for RV’s. It can be programmed to take gps coordinates settings. It also can be programmed to take your information on your rig I.e. Hight, weight, length etc so that it keeps you away from roads that will not accommodate your rig. It keeps you on truck routes manly. When we first got it we still ran our Garmin but soon found out to trust the Rand McNally. Uncertain of which exit to take as both gave us a different one we chose the Garmin. Well here we are pulling a 35ft. 5ver through the heart of Spokane WA. Right down down and boy there is not a lot of room on this street. We use the Garmin when we are unhooked.November 16, 2014 at 12:48 pm #7464And this is why I follow RV blogs. I was planning on buying a RV specific GPS unit, this just affirms that it would be the right choice.

November 16, 2014 at 8:06 pm #7470I guess the RV GPS systems are a good thing to have when RV travelling. We also have a Garmin for our car and were wondering if purchasing the higher priced RV models was worth it. We’re sold! Thanks.

December 23, 2014 at 6:49 am #8173If you have an iPad, you can get the Rand McNally RV GPS app here: for $99.
Best deal I could find on a hand-held for under $300 is this one: (7-inch screen and free lifetime maps)
