Any one who has RV’d for a while runs into the problem of how do you securely attach a heavier object to a wall. Hollow wall fasteners are a great solution, but can be quite the challenge to install, frequently, they rotate in the hole damaging the small spikes that are supposed to hold them solid, and once partially expanded, you can’t remove them to put a new one in.

    Watch this video.

They are available from Amazon.com, because they have to come from England, the shipping is more than the tool, and they do take a while to get here. I bought one for myself, it works great!

Roger,  I have one of those I use around the house.  I think I got it at Harbor Freight.  Pretty simple and handy.  I also use  threaded pop-rivets for blind installation where there is less room behind the “wall”.

I find the expanding fasteners to be very useful in the RV, added a microwave shelf in my old “C” and never had a problem with it coming loose.

I think I drive my husband crazy ’cause I’m afraid of putting any holes anywhere. We aren’t full timing yet so I might change my mind. But for now we command hook everything! -Nancy

I used these to attach my solar charge controller, inverter and top of my pantry. I thought depreciation will do far more to the price than any modifications I make! I wasn’t planning on trading it in, anyway.
