Last week I fire up the generator and about 15 minutes later I noticed the rpm dropped so I checked our Prosine panel and see that we don’t have any AC coming in. So I started my troubleshooting, all breakers are on, 123 volts coming out of the generator, moved on to my Surge Guard…L1, L2 and delay light are all lit up and it switches and I have voltage coming out. The only other thing is the inverter but I wasn’t comfortable going any further. It just so happens my neighbour worked in the RV solar industry and was kind enough to help me out. He discovered the wiring at the inverter was burnt and asked if I had a sub panel. Well when we started out in 2010 and didn’t know any better we had Camping World install our Xantrex ProSine inverter and solar system. Apparently they should have included a sub panel for the inverter. Thanks Camping World…we could of had a fire! I’ll be installing a smoke detector in the basement as well. So a couple of days ago my neighbour installed a sub panel for us. For a better explanation than mine check out

Hi Steve and Dianne, sorry you guys had troubles but glad no large camp fires.

Camping World is for sure the “Walmart” of RV  stores, you can get good shop service at some stores but it is far and few between. My Dad is still fighting out stuff that needs fixed on a new class A he purchased at the North Charleston, SC location. What a mess!!!!

Glad you have a neighbor willing to help you out with your troubles.

Thanks for the FYI on your repair and ………..Happy Trails!!!

Yikes! Glad it wasn’t worse. I guess they went with the quick and easy install, instead of doing a proper job. I’m sure they figure adding the sub panel was too much extra work or they didn’t know any better. Nice thing about Quartzsite, so many helpful and knowledgeable folks around.  Glad you got it sorted out.

    Hi Steve,

Check to make sure you don’t have IOTA model ITS-50R Transfer Switch.  They were recalled in 2012.  Here is a picture of mine:

:bye: Thanks guys…we learned long ago that Camping World isn’t the place to go to for anything other than supplies.

    Cheers!

Bob and Nancy I think RVers for the most part are some of the nicest people we have ever met. We were only charged $40 per hour and no markup on parts. Even if he charged us double that it’s still a heck of a deal. Our only other option would of been to break camp and go to an RV dealer and probably pay up to $120 per hour.
