Seven treated after carbon monoxide fills RV

    By: KAKE News

Seven people were treated at a Garden City hospital after carbon monoxide leaked into a recreational vehicle in which they were riding.

Emergency crews were called to the scene in the 1600 block of Taylor Plaza Saturday night. Seven people were outside of the RV, standing in the roadway.

The owner had purchased a generator to operate the RV’s heating and cooling systems. When the generator was installed it wasn’t ventilated properly, causing carbon monoxide to be released into the cabin.

The seven people were treated and released. An inspection determined the RV had several violations and wasn’t road worthy. The RV had been purchased in Texas to transport the owner’s family and band members around the country.

Thanks for the reminder. Always have a window or roof vent open.

Always need a working co detector. Even another rig parked too close may send co2 your way.
