Well we have started reservations for our retirement road trip out to Glacier NP this Year. I was browsing on rvillage.com and found a park name Lasalle RV park outside of Columbia Fall, MT. Made reservations for it in July. Would like to stay there two weeks then work our way to Yellowstone for Two weeks. Then stroll down to Tetons for a week or two. By this time we should be into August fairly deep. Thought about going down then to Sequoia NP. All after the Tetons is subject to change. We are carry my 80 yr old Mom with us and she is pretty active so the travel don’t bother her. She was co-pilot for a long time with my dad. So If yall got some better ideas of things to do after the Tetons give us an idea. Being from the East we need help for things to do out west. We have no schedule after the first three. Its up in the air as to which way to go. Only have to be back in Carolina’s Jan. 26th to get bags packed for our 9th Aruba run.
We are looking forward to our road trip in the RV. Got the fever hope it last.

RVHH Chief Cook and Bottle Washer - LoveYourRV.comDecember 30, 2014 at 8:26 pm #8261you might want to look into southern Utah and see bryce, Zion , Canyon lands arches National parks. also Grand canyon alittle farther south of there. Sounds like you have a good trip planned so far.
December 30, 2014 at 11:15 pm #8264I like Dan’s idea of carrying on in to parks south but you really should try and come north and go to Waterton National Park.

January 1, 2015 at 9:38 am #8286We looked at Waterton, thanks for the tip now do you have any suggestions for camping? Looks like an awesome place to go see. Thanks
January 1, 2015 at 10:00 am #8287I’ll add my two cents. Waterton lakes national park was amazing, nice little town and excellent scenery , lake is huge and sometimes there are very strong winds coming up the lake but most times we’ve gone the wind doesn’t last too long(have heard in winter it can blow for days/weeks) There are two campgrounds one just outside the park which is nice but has no hookups and one right inside the town that has walking access to town and lake and most sights have full hookups. We were told (and did) to make a reservation because the town campground fills up quickly in the summer. Things to note, there is a daily park fee per person in addition to your camp fee, if you are staying more than a few days or are thinking about visiting any other national parks in Canada you can buy a yearly pass . Bottom line if you are in that part of the country try to get there you won’t be dissappointed

January 3, 2015 at 10:54 am #8310Check out Greg Kerlin Blog site http://eilean350.blogspot.com/
Look at 2014 starting with April, for his trip to Alaska. Glacier was a stop along the way.
It is one of my favorite blogs.
January 10, 2015 at 3:42 pm #8410Hi, if you are going to waterton and want to continue north there is a great circle (sort of) route you can take, go on map quest and start with waterton to Nelson to Revelstoke to jasper to Banff to Calgary. you have to backtrack a bit from jasper to Banff or you can continue on from jasper to Edmonton and then south to Calgary then back up to Banff. Two of the most scenic drives you will ever find (in my opinion) are between nelson and revelstoke and jasper and Banff. also that entire route even though you are in some pretty remote areas it’s never very far to a provincial or private campground. If you do plan to stay in waterton, jasper and Banff they are all national parks and there is an additional fee per day, you are much better off to buy a yearly pass, hope this all helps more than it confuses.

January 10, 2015 at 8:14 pm #8414Have done that trip a couple of times. If you go from Nelson to Revelstoke make sure to stop at one of the many hot springs in the area. Our favorite is Nakusp hot springs a bit off the beaten track but a great spot and a nice campground. We have been to others in the area you will pass by.
January 31, 2015 at 9:50 pm #8831Waterton Lakes is worth the trip to the Canadian side of the border. I was there when I was young, and it was such a beautiful campground that I still remember the trip. You can take a short walk from the campground to wonderful restaurants and drinks in the small town.
February 16, 2015 at 8:54 am #9097Last year Cindy and I went to Glacier. We left the day after Father’s Day. Took a week or so drifting along before getting to Hungry Horse, MT where we stayed at Mountain Meadow RV Park. It was great and the staff fantastic. The owner “Flip” cant be beat and all the staff is fantastic. I would highly recommend this place and will stay there again. We homeported there for 7 nights and to me it couldn’t be beat. Anyway just my 2cents. I would like to add, dont go to early to Glacier. It snowed 20″ the week before we got there so most of Going To The Sun (GTS) was closed due to that.
